I am sure you will. It is a shame though that on this thread you have not recognised any problems faced recently. Anyone would think you do not want harmony. I am surprised by your somewhat negative attitude. However there is room on here for all shades of opinion and nobody has proposed you do anything differently.
I am not sure what presumption I have made. Still rather than create a debate here let me just say that I and a number of other posters (including Hornette) have noticed that the board has been shall we say less friendly than we would like it to be. All I am seeking is for others who agree to try to help this board be a nice place to post. Those who agree and want to try to improve things are very welcome to do so and anyone who disagrees is perfectly within their rights to and to continue as they choose.
You presume I have a "negative attitude". I thought one of the rules was we do not get personal? You have presumed I have not faced any problems. Is the 'etiquette' for a mod to tell a poster "don't complain if" they don't agree with you? This is how we get new posters? Great thunking. Time for a sabbatical methinks. I'll keep going with the predictions for my kids and touch base with Dave of a morning.
I think that we should stop and remember the medium which we are using here. In most cases we do not know each other and are dealing with created internet personae, which may, or may not be similar to the person behind the keyboard. If we were all in a pub then it is possible that our relationships would be different. Politics is all about 'society', ie. I think this is the best way, and you think 'that' is the best way but as long as our 'goals' are that as many people should be as happy as possible then there is no problem.
I did not preume anythng. You stated "We've survived 10+ years without a charter, I don't see why we need one now". I am not going to fight with you. .
From afar..I do recognise that you have had some conflict like I have recently on these boards Andy..
Isn't that the problem - there has been conflict. If we are able to alter what we do just a tad it could make the board better. That is all I am asking for. If everyone tells me they think the board runs perfectly well then so be it - mine is only a single opinion.
I have just rediscovered this. I wonder if we can refine Leo's original list and come up with a set of principles the group abides by. I guess we won't get 100% agreement but something to check back on.. And we can self monitor with mods stepping in when posters overstep the mark and won't step down ? Any views?
