Number 1 without question. Top 10 would include the first play off final, fa cup final, Lokeren away, Hullsborough, a few Torkey weekenders lumped as one and - oddly - a 3-2 defeat away at Bramall Lane under Peter Taylor. Anyone who was there will know why I include that one.
My favourite was a defeat too, 4-3 away at Leeds in 1990, 1000 of us made so much noise that day drowning out the 28000 White ****e, we only lost because the ref added on too much time too
Not sure what my favourite was. I really hit a sweet spot with my trip over there. 3-1 over Liverpool probably has to be it, but 6-0 over Fulham and the Southend 2-0 were also hugely enjoyable for different reasons.
Young ****s. 1966 Chelsea 2 Wagstaff 2 Sadly, can't find footage - only the replay (1-3 bloody Chelsea) Sod that Osgood - didn't play the first game. 1971 Wagstaff 2 Stoke 3 (Banks in goal - we was robbed)
I still think that goal by Barmby is the most important in Hull City's history. Oh aye, that save by Myhill in the first leg the most important save in City's history too.
My best away game tc. There must be footage somewhere. I noted a while ago you went on the Chelsea board to try too. Met Osgood after the game at the Hammersmith Palais with other Chelsea players -said he had almost recovered from a bout of tonsilitis and would play in the replay. Running that close was the FA Cup game at Old Trafford in 1952 where we won 2-0 giving us some revenge for the 1-0 defeat in the FA Cup quarter final at BP in 1949.
You lot probably think I'm daft, but I think the 'Ull accent is absolutely brilliant - and I mean that in the absolutely least patronising way possible.
I listen to a lot of different podcasts while at work. Something to listen to while you're working on something mindless, and gives you a bit of information about something you're interested in. Not everyone's cup of tea, but plenty seem to enjoy them.
Yeh, I think it's a perfectly fine accent. Flows reasonably well, better than the other Yorkshire accents. On the latest podcast.. I don't agree with your guest that the Leicester goal was coming anyway by the time of the penalty, at that point I remember thinking we were looking ok. And maybe Phelan will be more attacking than Bruce, I can live in hope for now anyway. Clucas started well last season but I said a while back that under another manager he might get more guidance and consistency, and hopefully we can get it this season.
I suspect he meant after the number of chances they had before our first, which was right on half time, but we did look very defensively solid for most of the game. Hope we repeat tonight.
Our latest episode; WARNING we do try and think of our fondest memories of the Allams, but all admit it's a struggle to think of many - we came up with them buying us to save us from liquidation, appointing Bruce and giving us pizza on Deadline Day We chat about the United game, Phelan's chances at becoming permanent manager, our signings, Snoddy's hattrick and how the other lads have gotten on, and look ahead to Burnley.
Another excellent discussion with your two friends Syd...easy to listen to and solid analysis. The Jak/Marshall debate is a tough one. I've always been a fan of Jak and he's been brilliant in his appearances the past two seasons but Marshall is top class and a big step up from McG who's gone down hill since his injury. Like the comments on Henriksen too....potentially our most exciting signing. Look forward to future well-balanced podcasts such as this.
