Thanks mate, means a lot. Yes we did try and keep it balanced, particularly when it came to the Allams. I know there is a lot of ill-feeling, and I'd be lying if I said I thought of them as great owners, but when all is said and done and they're on the way out, it doesn't hurt to try and remember some of the good things, as well as remember the bad as a lesson for future engagement.
Latest episode, we chat Snodgrass, Davies, the Burnley game, Arsenal, Stoke, the failed takeover, and Phelan's contract status!
Our latest episode: We discuss the Arsenal loss, the Liverpool match coming up, as well as what Phelan brings to the table that Bruce didn't. Maybe @Chazz Rheinhold will enjoy a listen to that bit.
Any positives to take from the loss to Liverpool? Just when should we start going all out in the League Cup? Should we try and contain Chelsea, or really go for it against a stuttering Blues side? And will Phelan ever sign on permanently?
Thanks for another excellent discussion Syd, and you both covered a lot of interesting points. I'd certainly agree with you that given Chelsea's recent form we are in with a decent chance of getting something out of this Saturdays game, particularly if we take a more balanced approach and put pressure on what is looking like an increasingly shaky defense. I'd like to see Phelan starting with two up top and give a Hernandez/Mbokani partnership decent playing time. Also agree that Meyler should fill Elmo's slot at RB. Look forward to more Aussie Podacasts!
Cheers mate! Means a lot. Yeah it'll certainly be interesting, I think Chelsea are really vulnerable at the moment and we should be able to capitalise by putting pressure on them. I agree Id love to see mbokani start.
Latest ep is up! That news about Phelan broke as we were recording so no discussion of the announcement, but we cover a fair bit of the news of the last two weeks, discuss the Bournemouth game, the fallout from the Chelsea game, and how the boys did over the break.
Fair bit of a ranting in this one as expected, somehow got onto the topic of Jak quite often, so if you're a Jak basher you might not like this one that much. Also discuss the latest round of takeover talks and then look ahead to next week's two games.
@look_back_in_amber Brad enjoyed the nickname and we've had a bit of fun with it this week. Watford, Stoke, and Bristol City are all discussed, as well as the selection debates raging around the place at the moment. We also discuss crowd numbers, the issues with our full backs, and McDonald's appointment.
A pretty glum episode, but we chat about the improved performance against Watford, as well as the positive developments regarding Tymon and Bowen out of the Academy.
Episode this week is much more uplifting! Southampton win, International break, and our relegation rivals all get a run down before a preview of the Sunderland game. OLM has already had a word about our standing as a rival of Sunderland, but I still reckon they dread another loss to us as much as we dread losses to Burnley. Maybe better to phrase it in that context.
Been a while between drinks! New episode is up now that I've settled into my new place and finally have Internet in full working order:
Two big Cup games with varying results, two players potentially coming in (is one just paper talk?) and a PL game to preview:
