Tadic fit, healthy and on form is fabulously creative. Eye of the needle stuff. We just need those three boxes ticked.
Even Dusan was unimpressed with Thursday's tactics , back to our old shape please Ron.....no hoof ball. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/sa...outhampton_must_ditch_the_long_balls/?ref=mac
Tadic is spot on there. Hopefully him and mane are fit, that should give us a bit more of a chance. Not looking forward to Redmond vs. Targett/cedric at this point though!
Sorry to pick on this comment, but I've read a lot of comments on this forum which seem to completely disregard every match prior to the last Thursday. Since our return to the premier league we've hardly ever played a proper left midfielder. It's always been an attacking player whose expected to drop back when out of possession. Like Jay, Elia or Mane. The long ball was a deliberate tactic against this Danish side. There has been no indication that this is suddenly our new style of play from now on
Although we played that exact way against Watford (that may have been a practise) and we have been playing longer and more direct , steadily since the last third of last season. In fact, we've been more direct than previous years since earlier than that. It's been a steady move in that direction... From what I've seen at St Mary's.
Midjtland(?) was different. I think it is an option. Ron's background is such that it won't be our default style. That would be chips and ketchup to the man. When Poch was here we only had one way to play. We need more. If you have the option then you can stretch the opposition, if you don't then they will play with a higher line and leave you no space. We need JRod up to speed to play this well. However, clearly if Jose and Maya play those long balls then the success rate will be low. But to stop that we need the midfield to give them easier options.
All this season we have played much narrower with Mane and JRod playing in behind Pelle instead of last years earlier model of playing wide left and cutting in. I agree that Mane is far more effective playing deeper and charging into dangerous positions from the centre but that does leave a gap down the wings especially as RK hasn't been picking Tadic In our squad we have one naturally wide midfielder and that is Tadic. The remainder are central attacking or defensive. Both JWP and Davis have proven in effective when put out wide and Reed is a DM. We are horribly short of options out wide and it is exposing our full backs
