I pretty sure Wagstaff's contract is up this summer, as is Derrick Williams' - El Abd is a bit of a drag, but at least we've not struggled to find clubs to loan him and take at least some of the wages out of our hands. I think you're being a touch unkind to suggest that no one would want Agard - I'm sure the majority of League One sides would be at least interested; it's just a question of whether the sums add up for all parties. I think the form we've shown since SC left has shown that we're not completely out of our depth at this level - we've relied a touch too heavily on our loan signings (particularly Tomlin) for my likings, but otherwise I'm satisfied that our level of 'deadwood' isn't nearly as much as many other clubs, meaning that there shouldn't be too much pressure in terms of 'A must leave, before you can sign B'. A very important summer indeed - get it wrong and we'll be amongst the favourites to go down, but get it right and we may be a surprise package.
Ched Evans has been out of the game too long now I think, he's also still got to go to trial again. You can imagine that some clubs are looking towards him ready to pounce if he gets not guilty verdict.
Personally Nick if i had spent the money SL has on bringing the gate into the 21st century.I would want to see the team play at the highest level, that being the prem. It is his money, and he is will do as he sees fit,but he has the resources to take city to the top if he wishes. Regards expenditure, i reckon we need to spend upto 30 million to put a side on the pitch to take us up. I agree with Lans comments above, the four outfield players plus O'Donnell are the only one good enough for regular starts next season. Interesting times ahead.
Yes, I agree with you both- Whatever we do wont be instantaneous. Rebuilding takes time and patience would be rewarded. A mid table finish next season would still represent success to me.
Answered like a politician! So to summarise: You say SL's money is his own to with as he wishes, but you think he ought to spend £30m between his own and the clubs' money to sign at least six players and that we're aiming for promotion next season. I think that'd be risky and even then wouldn't necessarily be enough to turn us into contenders (I expect there to be many talented sides in the Championship next season). I'd say, hopefully we can pay up to around £10m in transfer fees to sign five or six players (with at least three of those intended automatic starters), with maybe two loanees and that should raise our expectations to finish lower/mid table at least, but ideally top-half. Having a team capable of challenging for a playoff spot for 17/18 should be a realistic aim.
So, no one has noticed Bobby Reid's storming finish to the season then...? All of a sudden, his confidence is up and he has started to add goals to his game and I think we are beginning to see the start of a VERY good player. I am looking forward to seeing his progress next year...
I would Love nothing more than for Bobby Reid to fulfil the potential we have all seen for a few years now. As people say, a make or break season for him next season.
Agreed, though depending on our summer transfer activity, it could be a tougher task for him to get game time. He'll need to take his chances when they come.
Bobbys season has got better and better, i still say he needs a close season to work on his upper body strength to really set him up in this league as a permanent fixture. I am really excited at the thought of this summer, but also very worried too, If we cannot keep any of the loans ( mainly Tommo) there will be virtually a new team and with that comes bonding and gelling, which as we all know could take its time. This is why i think we must move quickly and get our targets, to do what SC did in our promotion season from L1, and get everyone together early and maybe even do another Africa trip to get everything as best as possible in place for the start of the season. otherwise if it all happens too late, and we start the new campaign badly.............................well you know!!
Do you think so ? Far as I can see, most of us couldn't manage a ---k in a brothel. Lets leave it to the professionals shall we ? Alternatively, I can come over tomorrow and show you how you should be doing your job. I don't know what it is, i have probably never done anything remotely like it but I'm such an arrogant t--tt that I believe I can do anything better than you… No offence
He needs to go on a steak diet. Maybe he should pay Tomlin a visit and dine there every day (or drink guiness at weekends). Or both
He's the only player in the squad currently that looks like he could score goals regularly from midfield.. Theo Walcott was 'advised' to bulk up.. look where that got him!
Think he is 4/5 highest scorer in the championship.
