Only got to see the 4th goal in extra time. Wow what a spanking - Everton 29% possession, 6 shots, 4 on target, 4 goals!
Such a shame that a few hundred million isn't enough these days for a so-called brilliant manager to achieve success. When Guardiola, Mourinho and other galactico managers achieve success on a shoe string I will begin to buy into the hype that surrounds them. The other fascinating thing about this result is that once again a side that has the vast bulk of possession has been comprehensively beaten by a side which saw less than 30% of the ball. Haven't watched it but I assume that Everton have not adopted a route 1 long ball game.
Watching the other Manc/Merseyside derby. Awful back pass from Lovren to Mignolet, that almost resulted in a goal - I really don't know why defenders constantly use that tactic, rather than simply clearing the ball out.
Pogba handball - great penalty kick by Milner, who apparently has never lost a match in 45 games played when he scored.
City should have had a penalty early on and were very close a couple of times first half, but their "star" players made mistake after mistake and that and increasing frustration / seeming collective loss of confidence left them well beaten. Everton were extremely effective. Stones had a mare. Guardiola looked to give up, sitting staring at the ground right down in front of him, and there was no variation in their play to give Everton any major headaches. They look like they need a target man just to vary their play occasionally but not Guardiola's way I guess. Not sure he'll be at City much longer though unless he changes things.
Me too and like some great goalscorers he was totally invisible for 83 minutes ( apart of that good freekick) and then score a equaliser. He too suprised me for scoring in a "big match" . He usually freezes in those totally. I believe he score 20-26 goals this season and that is a lot for 35 yrs old striker.
I'm not a huge fan of reffing by playback during games but video should be used to retrospectively hammer the cheats regardless of how the ref saw it at the time. Give Herrera a three month ban and he'll never pull that trick again. (The feigning injury to the face rather than the cynical foul, bad as it was). It was a good game though.
It's nice not being in the FA cup.....and suffering these embarrassing moments like Ipswich and Wimbledon....keept our head down....good and clever move !!!
after watching that Ipswich performance last night, I ask myself the question, how was it possible to lose 3-0 at theirs and have a lucky win at ours?
