    Bristol Rovers 4-0 Peterborough United

Two goals either side of half-time allowed an experienced Rovers side to record a convincing four-goal victory over Peterborough United in the Central League.
The home side named a strong side for the Central League encounter, with James Clarke, Cristian Montano, Jonny Burn and Bob Harris all named in the starting eleven.
Rovers started the game on the front foot with winger Cristian Montano causing the visitors problems with his pace down the left-wing.
Montano created the opening for the first goal just five minutes into the contest, as the winger slotted a perfectly weighted pass that pierced the Peterborough defence, which allowed striker Lewis Ellington to run through on goal unchallenged. The striker took a tumble as he rounded the goalkeeper, but was able to apply a finish into the empty net while on the ground to open the scoring.
Rovers doubled their lead on the twenty-minute mark when a low cross into the area was controlled by James Spruce, who showed some neat footwork to create a shooting opportunity and dug out a chipped finish from close-range which lifted the ball out of reach of the 'keeper.
After the break Rovers continued to create chances and were rewarded with a third goal when left-back Bob Harris surged down the wing and continued his run into the box and finished the move by calmly slotting the ball under the 'keeper.
Jonny Burn and Cristian Montano were replaced on the hour mark, but that didn't stop Rovers from creating further chances in the game, as Lewis Ellington broke into the area as was able to pick out Jay Malpas with a squared pass and the midfielder applied a simple tap-in for Rovers' fourth of the afternoon.
As they did throughout the game, Rovers limited Peterborough's possession inside the final third and didn't allow the visitors any chances in the closing stages to reduce the four-goal deficit.

Rovers still have to face Southend, Cheltenham, Swindon and Exeter in this season's Central League campaign.

Rovers: Will Puddy (70' Scott Coughlan [T]), James Clarke (62' Tyler Lyttle), Jonny Burn (65' Sam Iles), Danny Greenslade, Bob Harris (62' James Baillie [T]), Ryan Broom, Jay Malpas, Luke Russe, Cristian Montano (65' Dan Laminum), Lewis Ellington, James Spruce.

Subs: James Bailie, Tyler Lyttle, Jordan Carey, Conor Jones

Very convincing win against a very youthful Peterborough side. Both keepers for the Rovers did their jobs well without being pushed to hard , I think Puddy had a couple of saves didn't see Cloughlan have to make a save. Clarke, Burn, Greenslade and Harris looked really solid at the back with Greenslade playing putting in the best performance II have seen from him. Montano and Broom playing as wingers certainly gave their defence something to think about though Broom over hit a few of his crosses. Ellington and Spruce both worked very hard up front and were rewarded with a goal apiece, the player that really impressed was Luke Russe who I thought worked hard in defence and attack. Tyler Isles and Laminum put in tidy performances when they came on.
Their keeper made the save of the match from a Montano shot which he turned over at full stretch

Must be hard to be competitive when the bulk of the team are trialists who have never played together before and they all want to shine individiually to get themselves noticed. Basically they are a bunch of strangers trying to play together but for themselves to get noticed. It can take months for partnerships to evolve and for them to work well together as a team. I cant see DC or anyone else being worried about the result. I think they would be looking at certain qualitied of the trialists who see if any would fit in to the squad we already have.

Thanks for the info old timer <ok>

I guess if you are playing and trying to impress managers / coaches etc as a trialist it must be very difficult to do that and be a team player when all you want is someone to say he's good lets have a better look. I hope that they all deserve and get a chance to really impress and continue doing the job they love doing
