He says he's stopping until they win something or make Champions League... Hopefully he's training his son up to carry on the burden of ownership after he passes on! On a serious note, I'm genuinely pleased for Gutierrez getting that goal for them today after all he's been through. If someone had to score to keep them up, I'd have wanted it to be him.
Yeh, you got us. Fair and square. Who'd have thought when you were 11th in the league on 35 points, 10 points above us, that you'd have extended your lead with you're undoubted quality, to finish just one point above us and just 4 off points your January's mark. You guys must be sooooo proud! Looks like Sam passed his interview for your mangers job today as well
Holy Christ our teams are ****e. I'll take finishing above Sunderland as it is quite literally the only positive I can take out of the hollow, bleak, apathetic emptiness that supporting my team has been this season. Can't wait until August When Carver leads out the players our £10m overall investment buys us.
That's the sad truth mate, both of our clubs have massively underachieved yet again, and I can't see things getting much better for either of us next season unless something drastically changes. One-upmanship over derbies and league tables is all we'll have for the foreseeable future I'm afraid.
Bang on the money BBWB. However... I genuinely believe that Short wants Sunderland to do well but is being a) realistic about finances b) let down by the "football men" he has working for him. So you have some hope, probably not much. Ashley has had the perfect season. Made money from transfers, reduced the wage bill, sold a manager, survived. He cares nothing about Newcastle doing well. We have no hope.
Not worth the respect of a response Pops. Have a great summer mate! Not saying your old like, but hang around a bit longer for next season! If Relic, Nostalgic and I can do it, so can you!
That's true mate. The managerial appointments we make will be crucial. If we can convince Advocaat to stay I think he could stabilise us for a time, and Short does seem to have the club's interests at heart. Continuing with the Director of Football model seriously worries me though. Whoever comes in at SJP will have a tough job lifting the team after the decline over the last few months. At least we have a bit of respite over the summer!
