Palace gave us the test that many were expecting and our confidence looked a little low. An impressive second half and a wonder strike from Eriksen were the difference, so the challenge goes on. Next up? Just the small matter of the last North London Derby at White Hart Lane. With the move to Wembley for next season confirmed, this is now even bigger than normal. Our last chance to beat the Goons at what's been our home since 1899. A slight hope of the title and an unbeaten record there this season are also on the line. It's hard to think of a bigger game at the ground for a very long time. Wenger arrives having slightly stayed the hand of the Arsenal fans in the last couple of games. The sight of planes bearing banners has been muted, barring the one at The Etihad last night. Wenger Knows Best or Wenger Out? They'll all put it to one side for this game. Their top 4 chances are on the line and a loss would mean finishing below us this season. The game at The Emirates saw the home side attempting to reach the top of the table. A win was needed and it didn't arrive, despite them taking the lead late in the first half. A controversial Wimmer own goal gave them something of an undeserved advantage at the break. Harry Kane returned from an injury to make things level, scoring from the spot after Dembele was fouled. Eriksen nearly took all three points, but Cech saved one chance, then the post denied another. Last season's game at White Hart Lane was also a frustrating draw. Ramsey gave them the lead against the run of play towards the end of the first half. Coquelin quickly picked up two yellows after the break, allowing Alderweireld and Kane to put us ahead. Sanchez forced an error from Lloris though, as the points were shared. Neither side has any suspensions for this one. Ospina, Mustafi and Cazorla all miss out for them, while Koscielny should make it, despite facing tests. Winks, Lamela, Carter-Vickers and Rose are all out for us, while Dembele will be assessed. Vorm returns. Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Dier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen; Walker, Wanyama, Dembele, Davies; Eriksen, Alli; Kane. Subs: Lopez, Trippier, Wimmer, Sissoko, N'Koudou, Son, Janssen. League form: WWWWWW. Arsenal: Cech; Gabriel, Koscielny, Monreal; Bellerin, Coquelin, Xhaka, Gibbs; Walcott, Ozil; Sanchez. Subs: Martinez, Elneny, Ramsey, Iwobi, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Welbeck, Giroud. League form: LDWLWW. Referee: Michael Oliver. TV: Sky Sports 1. Which system should we use for this one and who needs to be left out? Is anyone in need of a rest and if so, who needs to come in to replace them? Do we need to do anything different to deal with Arsenal's tactics or system?
3 at the back for me. Would be very tempted to start Trippier over Walker as I think that has played really well recently whereas I was very concerned with Walker on Wednesday v Palace. I ain't looking to slate Walker as he has been very good for the past 2 seasons (at least) but everyone will need to be on the game on Sunday. My starting 11 would be; Lloris Toby Dier Vertongen Trippier Wanyana Dembele Davies Eriksen Dele Kane
The BBC has a link where you can choose your best combined XI from the Spurs and Arsenal players. Here is my pick:
Pochettino must have met them before, but he looks genuinely chuffed to be in the same room as them. He would've been about seven years old when they won the World Cup in Argentina, so I guess it's understandable. Feeds into what he said about keeping that part of you that's a child playing the game alive, too. Very nice clip.
If Dembele doesn't pass his fitness test who plays there instead? For me, I would go as far as to say the other Moussa. As bad as he has been, we saw a certain something on Wednesday. The guy is one of those that turns up for special occasions. Could this be a game made for him?
Not for me either, I'm afraid. If Mousa is indeed deemed unfit, then I'd play Eriksen deeper and have Son paired with Alli. Or maybe give Wimmer one more chance (albeit risky due to lack of game time) and have him in the back three with Dier partnering Wanyama. Ideally hoping to see: Hugo Dier, Toby, Jan Walker, Wanyama, Dembele, Davies Eriksen, Alli Kane COYS!
"OSSIE! OH RICKY! Wooooow!" A manager with a growing reputation as one of the best young coaches in Europe still has that humbleness of a fan when visited by two legends. Love it, ****ing love it.
I'd be happy to revert to 4 at the back if Moussa isn't fit, although Eriksen dropping deeper next to Wanyama would be a close second to that, as he did so against Palace after Son and Our Lord and Saviour came on, and they just didn't pick him up for the remainder of the game. We've only tended to struggle with 4 at the back against teams who park the bus but Arsenal just don't do that; they'll go for the jugular to keep their top 4 hopes alive and to piss all over our parade. Hugo Walker Toby Jan Davies Dier Wanyama Eriksen Alli Son Kane Natural balance restored, doomsday averted @Dier Hard
Where do you all see Lamella fitting in when he is back to full fitness? For me he is probably your most technically gifted player and, before his injury had become a hard worker as well. Surely he should be a first team pick.
No Dembele and we lose Dembele plays and we lose God hates us God hates me AND I FECKING HATE THE NLD My stomached has been knotted since the final whistle on Wednesday v Palace and the is still 16 and a half hrs til kick off
First half of the season we were crying out for him to return as his work rate was sorely missed. Second half of the season the whole team upped their levels to the point where many are now showing that "chase everything down" mentality like Lamela did. Son's also come into the side this season as if he were a new player and has added the one thing Lamela wasn't offering enough of - goals. I think Lamela is a terrific player and I really hope he can fully recover from his injury in time for the new season but I think it would be very hard to find a place in the XI for him straight away. He gets back into the squad with ease, with the likes of Nkoudou or Sissoko making way but I think we've just been too good of late without him for him to waltz straight back in.
That was my thoughts and why I asked. Son in particular has stepped up with his goals as you say. I was just interested in the thoughts of someone who watched you every week as I only watch certain games and high lights.
