0-0 HT. We've been average and they've been a bit ****. Missed two massive chances and slacked off a bit towards the end of the half. Need to up our game in the second half. Subs will be key.
We have looked ok with Davies, Son & Verts standout so far. But 2 missed sitters will no doubt cost us. This has 0-1 with an 87th minute Giroud goal taking it....
He's consistent at getting them to the man at the front post, which makes me wonder if it's intentional. But I don't understand what there is to be gained from it.
I would bring on Kyle at HT. Trips has been solid but isn't doing the one thing we want him to do: deliver good balls into the box. I also cack myself every time I see him up against Sanchez. Might also consider bringing on Dembele but who for? Son has been very good, Alli has looked dangerous. Eriksen looks knackered which is understandable after his 90mins against Palace - but would you risk removing a player who can make something out of nothing.
I'm not convinced by that first half. The formation is allowing Arsenal to press us far too much. We clearly miss Dembele in the middle. Not liking how Poch has already played his best cards by having all of Kane, Dele, Eriksen and Som as starters. Son is more effective late on. A back three looks a better bet. Trippier may look to get forward more but we need Dembele on if we do. If he's on the bench, surely he's fit.
Set piece play this season has been woeful on both corner and free kicks, But with Pochettino you know this is another area of on-pitch performance he will look to seriously improve next season.
It has been a far more subdued game than we expected, both on the pitch and in the stands. I think the reality of Chelsea's dominance has hit us. We were banking on Everton doing us a favour but it didn't materialise - quite the opposite in fact. I just hope that the players don't make the same mistake they did last season by under-estimating how much it would mean to us to finish above the scum.
Probably need to see if Verts is ok. Dembele coming on for him with Dier dropping back would be the obvious move.
