That the roads will be full of people who have watched cycling once and decided they're the next member of Team Sky. So a Summer of being forced to gamble with my life near a blind corner beckons. Do I overtake or do I drive at 8mph behind them as they ride 3 a breast across the road?

I never see any at 3 abreast that is arrogance if they do.
    I both drive and cycle.

The road between Raywell and South Cave is the worst for it, especially given the nature of the road. I don't know what the procedure for road cycling is vis a vie group cycling, but I imagine single file is the safest. If people want to cycle that's their prerogative, but if they are endangering road users it's a pretty serious issue. It only takes one tit to pull out when you're going the other way and you'll have a head on collision.

You shouldn't be overtaking one cyclist on a blind bend. Fact

You seem to have a grudge against cyclists.
I think idiotic dickheads driving like ****s are the problem.

I think riding three abreast on a road while cars whizz past at 50mph is a pretty ****ing stupid thing to do anyway, you don't need a grudge to realise what a pain they can be. On a road like the Raywell road you can be the safest driver in the world but if you have to slow down to cycling speed for 5 miles because you aren't risking going into the other lane on a blind corner it's a hazard to the drivers and the cyclists, as you can come round the corner at normal speed and the bloke in front has had to slow right down, I'm surprised there aren't more accidents because of it. I mean, riding down the A63 on a ****ing bicycle.

    Don't ****ing 'whizz past' then
You've also weirdly discussed Raywell and the A63 in the same post...if cyclists bother you that much then go via the A63 instead where you can 'whizz past' to your hearts content
Riding in single file is not the safest option, as Ronguv pointed out, nor is it the method taught in the Highway Code

To be honest if you're in that much of a rush that you can't bide your time to safely pass cyclists then you set off too late...

As a seeming non cyclist Sterling, please consider this. Its not a dig . Part of the reason for riding wide, especially on roads like between Raywell and Cave (though believe me there are many which are a thousand times worse) is the actual state of the road itself. While many of these potholes mean nothing to a car, they are dangerous to a cyclist. The drop down into Cave from that road, you have to ride wide as after rain the road is covered in gravel which has washed down onto the road. If you know anything about Formula 1 you'll know about what are called marbles, imagine hitting these on a bike (its no fun believe me i've done it too many times. ERYCC has just done the road near Harwell and not swept it making it a nightmare to ride on as they have done with loads of roads as a cheap fix option, then never bother to sweep them with all the excess gathered on the near side, of course cars dont think twice about passing you at 40mph on these roads blitzing you and your bike in crap!!!!). Cyclists should NEVER ride 3 a breast and the more experienced ones riding in pairs and in groups will always try and make as much space as possible. Believe me, they are more concerned about you hitting them and the consequences than you are of getting your car scratched..

You wait until it's safe, as you would behind any other vehicle.

Cars are there conditionally, cyclists, horses and pedestrians are there as of right. You should be grateful they let your share their road.

Plus you don't see cyclists disposing of their ashtrays and McDonald's packaging out of the window
