It was more aimed at City but United's spending over the last few years has been pretty eye watering considering you've made hardly anything back in sales.
Not a selling club. Not sure your owner wants to put anymore cash into Chelsea so you now have to sell to buy, clearly selling older player's and bringing in younger. He also not fronting the cash for the new stadium so Chelsea are about to become 500 million in debt
yep, after a long 14 years he's decided to decimate our squad... and make his money back. you forgot to mention about the divorce too. Any other gems?
So Oxlade Chamberlain has turned down 180k a week with Arsenal and looks set to move to us or Liverpool, although they might make him see out his contract. If he doesn't, 30M+...seems a lot. Not a bad player but not a world beater. Versatile though so would come in handy I guess. I don't think he's fulfilled his potential as yet but can definitely still get better, probably needs a move away, fresh start etc. I think we might get him, possibly deadline day.
I think he'd be a very useful signing. Very versatile as you say and has a good engine and work rate which will appeal to Conte. Arsenal clearly don't want to sell but can they afford to possibly lose 3-4 players on a free next summer? And Wenger openly admits he needs to let people go and the squad is too big.
I've been a critic of Chamberlain at Arsenal for a few years. The guy mainly played as a WF and only managed 3-4 goals a Season and very few assists. He's the kind of player that will carry the ball at pace past 3 defenders then blast a shot into the stands. However - since we played him as a 'Wing Back' I like him alot more. I honestly think that's his best position. The thing is he wants to play as a WF/AMF - not at the back. I dont see a future for him at those positions so maybe Arsene should just sell. He may just have the same problems at Chelsea if he does move.
he certainly looked good in that role in the cup final and seems to suit his game. Whether he'd want to play that role for us remains to be seen as can't see him dislodging the likes of Willian or Pedro
According to twitter we'll get Llorente before deadline day for 14M and we've had a 25M bid turned down for Barkley. Our targets are a bit underwhelming....
We're just filling out the squad now. With Morata, Bakayoko, Rudiger and Christensen returning, that's potentially 4 new first team players. Anyone we get now will be to make up the numbers. Morata, Bakayoko and a replacement for Terry were clearly the priorities this summer.
true but 40m for a bench warmer (could have just kept matic) and the guy has no upside whatsoever (he's getting old) i just don't get our transfer business.
Yeah not sure I entirely see the point of swapping Matic for Drinkwater. Similar money, similar age. Fairly happy with the other signings though. Lots of potential in there and was always going to be difficult to compete with the Mancs. City have spent about 130 million on full backs alone!
That's what it takes to get into the elite though. Clubs like Madrid and Barca will have 50 million plus players on their bench. The Drinkwater / Kante tandem that worked so well at Leicester must be a factor in this signing.
We are being strongly linked with Drinkwater, Barkley and Llorente. Who if any would we like to see out of these 3? Drinkwater would be the most likely to get games IMO. Barkley is potential and Llorente in only because Conte doesn't trust Bats, even as back up. Not a big fan of Barkley myself but if we paid around 30, that would be decent business for the player he could become. Hazard wont be with us forever either. Surely means we'll be looking at other right back options too if Ox was to compete with Moses?
The forgotten men..... With the Llorente deal falling through, will we look to keep Remy now? Was rumours he was off to Spain which could still happen today. Also, looks like Rahman never went anywhere. Alonso back up then?
Think Remy is signing for Las Palmas today on a free. When is Rahman fit? Could be an option, he only ever liked going forward so could work as a wing back.
