Aston Villa, Reading and Preston are all sniffing around Furlong, after he had one great game. we have offered him a new contract....but he might take umbridge having pushed aside by everyone http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/as...on-submit-enquiries-for-talented-21-year-old/
I would like to see him stay and sign a new contract. He definitely has potential that we are not realising by sending him on loan. We need to play him more. The same for Doughty. He is good enough and should be kept and made feel welcome.

I was thinking exactly the same. Are the press conferences held in the headmasters office of the school next door?
FROM WLS """""""""""""" Ian Holloway has indicated that QPR are ready to end their pursuit of Danny Ward after having a second offer for the forward rejected by Rotherham. Rangers have had bids of £1.2m and £1.5m turned down and Holloway has suggested the club are looking at other possible signings. “We’ve done what we needed to do,” said the R’s boss. “They haven’t given us an idea of the fee they want, so it’s a bit of a stalemate so we’re moving on.” Ward, 25, has scored 10 goals for Rotherham this season and a number of Championship clubs are showing an interest in signing him. Rangers have also been in talks with Bristol City over a potential deal to sign Luke Freeman. The club are hoping City will agree to sell given that the winger’s contract expires in the summer. “We’ve been targeting players who are out of contract, but unfortunately Danny Ward isn’t,” Holloway said. If I was Furlong I wouldn't be rushing to sign a new contract. Better to see how his return develops & if he has game time. Playing second fiddle to Perch would not amuse me & I would allow my contract to run down. On the other hand, if I started in most games, the offered contract would still be there for me to sign come March/April. This signature might be one of the hardest for the club to obtain.
I remember Bruce giving him praise after one of his PL appearances when he was Manager of the opposition, Sunderland I think. Sounds like he's not forgotten him.
Ward for £5M! Surely will give that to Hollow to spend? Amazing really. How the hell can we be so far off the valuation again?
Nines is spot on. We Sell Charlie a proven Prem striker at 26 for peanuts while every club around us sells their two bob strikers for more. We really do run our club like a circus.
I'm afraid it looks like we're shopping in the basement bargain section again. If we're looking specifically at players that are out of contract,i just can't see us bringing in the quality that we so badly need. Surely we realise that we have to spend a few million to bring in some decent additions. I just don't see the point of bringing in players that aren't going to be good enough, and aren't wanted by anyone else. I don't think I could bare to watch another Gladwin parading in the Hoops !
I know it's only a year ago but I think this shows the market has got even more silly. We seem to have been ok wheeling and dealing in this and the last window in my opinion. I'm glad they are not paying these ridiculous valuations.
They seem to be doing exactly what they stated by looking at youth players and trying build slowly. It must be hard trying to stay in the division and build enough to attract talent but also save money. There's logic in it whether you agree with it or not, the owners have had their hands burnt quite a few times before! Hard to take for us fans though...
Hull. It was his debut and his cheating players managed to get Barton sent off after they'd failed to get him sent off. Kind words are cheap when they won the game because of two defensive catastrophes and his team had been played off the park.
Our grandiose ambitions are clearly over. No more shovelling money down a bottomless pit. Lee Hoos' stewardship means the club is trying to live within its means (either because the owners got sick of throwing good money after bad or FFP or both). We are a small/medium sized club being run as a small/medium sized club. Lets just hope that we can punch above our weight because that is exactly what it is going to take if we are going to challenge for promotion gain.
