http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/...dlesbrough-newcastle-united-manager-11921234? Former Middlesbrough manager Steve McClaren is set for a new role in the Championship, according to The Sun. Reports this morning suggest that McClaren, sacked by Newcastle in March, is wanted by QPR owner Tony Fernandes. Or even more surprising http://www.themag.co.uk/2016/09/cla...-replace-les-ferdinand-newcastle-united-qpr/?
Les has been getting some stick on other sites/twatter. Remember Benny and JFH were his recommendations. None of us know what happens behind the scenes and we can only speculate however we can see what is happening on the pitch and it's dire. It saddens me that some fans cannot see our downfall. It would have been a different story if they had sacked Redknapp after that play-off final and got in a decent manager. since then Benny took us down and was taken us down further, then JFH sold all the best players (or they left) and we are sinking further. Our fans need to wake up and say that this is not acceptable rather than give these managers more time. QPR on and off the field is broken (fortunately, I am not talking financially). There has been too many quick fixes or the wrong appointments. These decisions have been made at the top and they need to take responsibility for it. Every season we are down here in the Championship the more it hurts us financially and the harder it will be to return. If a club gets the chance of promotion, they should take it and try and stay there. We had 2 chances and f'd up both! For me I would act now and bring in a decent manager (there are some about) and I would keep LF away from any decision making or sack him. Director of Football for a club our size? Wake up! They only undermine the manager.
They do take responsibility - every time they look at the spreadsheets. I think I'd be ok with sacking SLF and JFH if there was a really good candidate wanting to come and do the job.
What we need is a manager with passion for the club, McClaren ain't it. Dare I mention the names Holloway, Hill, Ainsworth.
Recently I have agreed with your posts Shefford but sadly I don't think the 3 names mentioned are the answer.
You are right, the post was slightly tongue in cheek but at least they would have passion for the club.
If all you need is a passion for the club...I am available! And cheaper than all above mentioned names (do not go there boys!)
SLF doesn't have any input into the on-field side of things does he? I don't see how Mclaren being appointed would have any impact on Les' role. Not sure if this is a good idea but if I remember correctly we played some of our best football for years over those few months when Mclaren was with us.
A black Jack maybe! I have no good basis to judge, but the impression I have from a long way away is that he is cautious, conservative, but also experienced and determined. Expect he'd be a great Manager in the long haul, but then so would Ramsey have been and so will Jimmy. Both our financial situation and my impatience says we need someone who would give us a much better shot at promotion this season.
I think he knows this division, on balance plays decent footie, has a decent record of winning promotion, has kept smallish teams up (sometimes!) and is reasonably straightforward and uncontroversial (although clearly principled). I like the guy and would recruit him like a shot if it was up to me.
