October nearly on us and the U18s Player Profiles have finally managed to enter the new season. Have a look - corking names on the first two goalies.

Doriley - No Matt among the 'mug shots'. Know he hasn't been in the team since his injury but hope he's okay.

PS Suppose technically correct but no idea why Ryan Sessegnon is included.

    Fulham 2 Aston Villa 3 (U18s)

Disappointment for the youngsters to lose this one after being two goals up. Both of ours were scored by Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson. The team was:

    T. Ashby-Hammond; Felix, Jenz, Opoku (Sessegnon 20'), Mundle-Smith (Garrido 75'); Kwietniewski (Kelly 75'), Harris, Andrason, Thorsteinsson; Pearce, Thompson

    Unused subs: L. Ashby-Hammond, York

I was wrong - Fulham did have a match today. The U16s beat Crystal Palace 3-0 this morning. Getting details is proving difficult and as ever th Club pages are no help.

    Arsenal 1 Fulham 1 (U18s)

Fantastic result for the lads yesterday against the League leaders. The team was:

    T. Ashby-Hammond; S. Sessegnon, Garrido, Jenz, Felix; Harris, York, Andrason, Thorsteinsson; Pearce, Thompson

Subs: Elstone, Norman, Kelly, Spence, Santos Clase

"The Gunners hit the post early on after an entertaining start to the encounter, and they pressed again soon after when a goal bound shot was superbly blocked by Joe Felix.
The young Whites responded through Thorsteinsson’s excellent dribble through the home defence, but he was quickly smothered by the goalkeeper before he could get a shot away. Steve Wigley’s charges then almost went in front in the initial stages of the second half when Cameron Thompson broke and fed Thorsteinsson. His cross found Jayden Harris, but the midfielder’s shot was blocked by the ‘keeper.

A similar pattern was emerging in the game, with Arsenal controlling possession but Fulham looking dangerous on the counter. The hosts did manage to step things up a gear though, and were unlucky to see a shot crack against the crossbar. Substitute Michael Elstone then put his follow-up wide after the Arsenal stopper had parried a free-kick, and the striker went even closer not long after when his chip went agonisingly over the bar.

The North Londoners did then make the breakthrough, though, with a free-kick finding its way in at the near post. But just minutes later, Fulham were level. Isaac Pearce was needlessly fouled in the area as he went away from goal, and Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson made no mistake from the spot.

The equaliser gave our youngsters a boost and Reece York was presented with a chance from close range, but he opted to pass rather than try his luck at goal. Thorsteinsson’s free-kick then resulted in something of a goalmouth scramble, with Elstone eventually scuffing the loose ball wide, with the Whites forced to settle for what is in fact a very admirable draw."

Good show nontheless. I do believe this is the third time in a row that we've been in the Final - and unless I'm wrong, we won the last two!

At last the Club give U16s recognition -

For a club like Fulham to make the Final three years in a row, having had to qualify first, ahead of teams like Chelsea, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham Hotspur, is some achievement.

“It’s a reflection of the whole Academy. The recruitment’s been great over the last few years, we’ve brought in a lot of talented boys, and they’ve been well coached throughout to get to a stage where they’re ready to play in tournaments at a high level
    .

Here's a link to their article which gives more background and a bit about the lad's progress in this year's tournament

    Fulham 1 Brighton 1 (U18s)

It's that man Thompson on the score sheet again!! Despite the skimpy Club report the lads played well enough to win this one. The team was:

    T. Ashby-Hammond; S. Sessegnon, Garrido, Jenz, Felix; Andrason (Kelly 60'), York, Harris, Thorsteinsson; Pearce, Thompson

    Unused subs: L. Ashby-Hammond, Spence, Santos-Clase, Elstone

"The visitors took an early lead at Motspur Park when Danny Mandroui capitalised on a poor clearance by firing in from a free-kick that followed. The Seagulls then hit the post from a similar set-piece, before being denied once more when Taye Ashby-Hammond saved a fierce drive from the edge of the box.

Fulham were much improved following the break, and after Brighton goalkeeper George Hobbs had kept out Moritz Jenz’s header, we drew level when Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson sent over a marvellous cross which Cameron Thompson volleyed into the roof of the net from close range."
