please log in to view this image Manchester United are tracking young left-back Andrew Robertson at Championship leaders Hull City, sources for Sias have learned. The Red Devils recently conducted an overhaul of their scouting network and are spreading their net even wider. And the Old Trafford giants have heard good things about the 21-year-old Glaswegian left-back, who has been an integral part of Steve Bruce's promotion charge this term. Robertson, who has risen to become a full Scotland international, was watched by United's people in the Tigers' recent home stalemate with Brighton. The starlet was signed from Dundee United back in 2014 for £2.85m and the former Celtic youth reject is already valued considerably higher than that. United will continue their watching brief but know the word is already out on Robertson, and that they might now have to move quickly if they want to be at the front of any queue. http://www.sportinastorm.com/Premie...Robertson/X1Y48Z2064174?#sthash.pHUNf55x.dpuf
Why would they want him and LUke Shaw? It'll be bad for either player's development to have 2 of roughly the same age competing.
Agreed we must get him on a big long contract. If anyone wants him they can pay what precedent sets. £30m for Luke Shaw? Robbo will cost £40m.
Rojo and Blind are not wing backs in a million years. Shaw though is the perfect wing back when fit. Money talks, big enough offer and he'll be gone I suspect. When the 'big clubs' come knocking offering huge money to both the club and player, it's always going to be difficult for clubs like ours to refuse.
They were bought as LBs. Blind played as LB for the Netherlands at the most recent WC. They may not be wing backs but they are full backs. Likewise for Rojo for Argentina.
Not saying they are not LB's? Wing backs never. Both Rojo and Blind are as mobile as an arthritic pensioner!
Ok. Since United generally play with a back 4 I can't imagine the distinction matters much. They aren't going to spend a chunk of money on Robertson just on the off chance they want to play 3-5-2.
Eh? You're saying Blind and Rojo can't play as wing backs and I'm saying that doesn't matter considering United's formation doesn't use wing backs. Not sure what's hard to comprehend.
Who knows what formation they'll play next season? But the point remains, even if they do play wing backs next season they've already got someone of similar ability of similar age. Its a daft story.
Exactly. Shaw can play as a wing back, so they aren't going to spunk big money on a back up wing back on the off chance they change formation. Not sure what's so baffling about that.. Interestingly when Rojo was signed he was mooted as a good player for the 3-5-2 formation anyway..
If you play with a diamond in midfield, then I would beg to differ, wing backs can play within 3 or 4 at the back. Are you saying that Young and Valencia do not play as wing backs and get forward at United? That's exactly what they are there to do. Anyway as others have said, it's likely a bollocks story
can't blame them given the lad's form this year, if the offer was a beauty could be the opportunity Tymon would need to make that first team place his own, you never know.
As Mourinho has watched a couple of our games recently and he's tipped to take over manure next season.....
