All the unremitting gloom and despair around the place is hard to shift, so I started to consider things about our great club that made me feel good just to cheer myself up. After some considerable time I eventually gave up, but courtesy of my 8 year old daughter I give you our name, both the acronym and the full affair, 'because it sounds nice', in her words. What things QPR cheer you up, and why?
We are not Chelsea.... Winning anything (even a single match) is always a high, cos we've been through the sh1t and come through the other side
Loftus Road...especially when it rocks: e.g against Wigan last year Loftus Road...cause you feel you know everyone You lot....because it feels like family
Going to games with my son and meeting friends in the pub beforehand, and often afterwards too. It's just the games themselves that get me down.
Stan when he got the ball from short corner and beat 3 along the goal line before slipping under the keeper and then came straight to me. 3-0 v Cologne I think although there was lots of magic moments over those few years. Its strange, whatever Sir Les and even Adel and others have done it was never quite the same feeling as then...probably an age thing!..
I was at that game too. Good shout from Stroller about going with his lad. It certainly has been a great Father Son thing for me and the two lads over the years.
Being able to convert my 15yr old grandson from Man utd to little old Qpr. Now that is some achievement here in Ireland.
Mate, those are seriously good memories. Tinged with sadness to see that team spirit and success that we are not enjoying just now.
When you see another R in Tescos or just walking down the street, you can say "u Rs" and feel like you've made a new friend.
Just for fortyyears and the rest of us who were there that night and those who maybe haven't seen this before.....
When you can walk down the street and another football fan doesn't laugh at you but acknowledges you. Even over here in Oz, I sometimes get some grief but most the time, good wholesome decent people surround me.
