Very true and one of the main reasons players have refused contract extensions. A decision which most would deem risky. Why would you throw away an immediate pay raise in the hope a club comes in for you? Because it's not hope, you already know.
An agent wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't have feelers out testing the water. It's the way it works. Didn't Koeman sack his agent because he wasn't made aware of interest from elsewhere (not sure, just asking).
That was certainly the rumour. I think the old agent may have refused Evertons approach without consulting Koeman. He apparently said "Koeman is a man of huge integrity and has vowed to see out his contract at Southampton and would not be interested in the role at this time"
Or because you have an agent whispering sweet nothings in your ear, knowing that if he can't get you that big move you've always dreamt of, at least he can get you a transfer to, er, West Ham.
On On that note, do we think Koeman would have done any better than Puel this season under the same circumstances as, most likely, a lame duck manager?
I don't think he would have got us a cup final. If he did do better i reckon it would be because Everton would have finished below us after relying on their own manager scouting rather than leeching off ours for Koeman
Possibly. Depends what you mean really. In the league I think he might well have. I think he'd probably have sacked off the League Cup (which wouldn't bother me but would bother others). Not sure how he would have treated our European and FA Cup campaigns but they weren't great triumphs as things stand so he couldn't really have done too much worse there. I suspect Rodriguez would have gone on loan last summer and Koeman would have pushed for another striker to be signed. He also wouldn't have experimented with a diamond formation and you'd expect there would have been a little more continuity in terms of tactics. I know it's tempting to talk down Koeman's ability but he's done a good to very good job with Everton this year and I see no reason he wouldn't have done well with us again.
Maybe the true test of Koeman will come in managing an Everton team without Lukaku as it might have done in managing a Saints team without Mane?
I think Koeman is good at getting the best out of the talent at his disposal. He's pretty pragmatic like that. Pochettino needs his sort of players playing his way, whereas Koeman will work with what's available. Of course, both can now **** off
What on Earth has gone wrong for Virgil....he'd probably have been better if he had actually broken his leg. Seems a real problem injury.
I wonder if it actually was a break.? I mean just like shin-splints which, if my understanding is correct, are tiny micro fractures in the bone which leads to extreme pain and weakness. VVD could have similar in the injured area. Just a thought.
Beggars belief that a light weight like Vardy could cause so much damage, a cow trod on my foot once but nobody made as much fuss as this guy is receiving.
Footballers are such fusspots nowadays, though I suspect that you aren't worth 40+ million.* *Sounded harsh....I'm sure you are quite valuable.
Didn't scientists work out the intrinsic value of a body back in the sixties? l think it was about £3 7s, I've lost a couple of bits but reckon I'm still worth around £3.
