Echo saying that we will try to keep hold of Virgil despite takeover collapse. Probably contacted a media spokesman at Saints who fed them the official line....so not straight from the horse's mouth. No club announces they are trying to sell players....but it makes me happy to believe it. Getting him fit would be a nice start....it's like having a thoroughbred in the stable eating expensive oats but not able to race. I wonder how much VVD would fetch as glue.

 

That's not great if you're including inflation between then and now MA :-( in real terms, you're value has depreciated by just over 6 times

From what I've heard, I wouldn't expect to see VVD in a Saints shirt again. Deal to Chelsea all but done. Ryan also likely to be off this summer due to running conflict with Puel.

 

Losing Ryan would be a huge blow.

 

How reliable is your source?

VVD is expected sadly.
As for Ryan, McQueen is a more than adequate replacement but still annoying.

 

McQueen is a huge talent but no where near the level of Bertrand, who I consider one of the best in the league.

 

Don't really need a source....Saints could do a lot with 50 million, though I'd like to know where that figure came from. I think the price just goes up every time it is mentioned.

 

He works at the club and is very close with a number of players. He doesn't usually talk on things, so when he does I take it to be pretty concrete.

 

I wouldn't sell him this Summer for 60 even, though I expect he'll go for around 45 in the end

True, but they undoubtedly cross over... we're not poor and he'll still (likely) be worth **** loads next Summer.

He won't go to Liverpool. Will be either City or Chelsea imo.

 

I think he may surprise us and will stay 1 more season.

I hope so, as, once again, we are just a few signings away from really challenging next season, but it sounds like it will be yet another rebuild. Then the likes of Gabbiadini, Tadic, Cedric, Romeu, Redmond go next season. Tedious.
