First game of a new season................................what could possibly go wrong. Not much you can say when it's the first game is there. We haven't got a bleddy clue who will be up and running and who will be down and limping along at this stage. Old Plym is worried we are too lightweight up front but then again he did ask the question for most of last season who would score the goals or we weren't scoring enough. Lets be honest now, all of us are a teensy weensy bit nervous with the first game and are more hoping it is us running and not limping. Bring it on.........
We didn't score enough goals last season....that's why Portsmouth's goals difference won them the title....the only moment they were top of the league all season.
I fancy a solid away draw. You might get a very brief match report, depending how long it takes to get back.
Not sure if this can be interpreted as karma but Millwall whose manager predicted that Argyle would be relegated this season are currently as we speak bottom of the championship. I know it won't last past tomorrow but it kind of made me smile.
So the big day has arrived....10.30am......four and a half hours to kick off.....hope our defence is on song....because we're a little light up front....down to Carey and the mid-field to find the net.
Can I suggest you cancel your membership of a certain forum plym. You are beginning to sound an awful lot like some of them..............
Well maybe I'm right....maybe I'm wrong.....I do like Taylor and Blissett....but I do feel we need more bite up front....we cannot rely on Carey for the inspiration and the goals as well.....too much to ask of one man.
So, here we go again. McCormick Threlkeld Bradley Edwards Sawyer Fox Sarcevic Jervis Carey Grant Taylor Presumably....
Carey Grant? What's he "acting" as? Don't be such a pessimist Plym. We haven't kicked a ball yet but still there is this doom about not scoring goals we haven't even played one game or even 5 minutes of one game. Shall we get at least one under our belt before we collapse into total depression.
Worrying for nothing plym I told you we could score. Pity it's an own goal by Gary Sawyer though. Just to addd insult Exeter go one up at the same time via Reid.
After the long wait, not good start, 1-0 down to an own goal and Taylor off injured when we're a striker short. Jervis now through the middle and Ainsworth out on the right.
According to comments on pasoti from people at the game Argyle have been by far the better side and the OG was a fluke. We should be several up by now but can't quite finish it off. There you go plym one for you.
All over, 2-1 but not a bad performance by the sounds of it, if allowances are made for first game rustiness. Blissett not on the bench which made it awkward after Taylor went off. Another striker needed as soon as possible if Taylor is going to be out for any length of time. Peterborough keeper was stadium MoM, which tells you a lot. Disappointing but no reason to panic.
It seems we did well and were possibly best team.....unlucky own goal after only 4 mins.....Taylor off and no striker on the bench ???.....and questions about their second goal.....something to build on.
It's always disappointing no matter how you lose if that's what you do. Slightly crestfallen right now but will soon buck up no doubt.
