Funilly enough around the time of changing his agents. It wasn't Ronald that wanted to join Everton, But that of his agency. Surely to outline their pockets some more.
I am far from convinced by this. We have all come to expect garbage from things with Liverpool in the name. Hasn't the Everton echo published their version of events yet?
I've been hearing the Arsenal thing from so many gooners over the last year that I'm beginning to believe it myself. Couldn't really hold it against Ron if he did go there, it's one of the two biggest jobs in English football - Man Utd being the other. But Wenger's going nowhere for the time being, and Utd have made their (bizzarre) choice, so I think we're safe for now.
We all kind of expect that Koeman will eventually move to a bigger job. That's why it was so laughable to expect he'll go to Everton.
No link, so don't believe it. Anyway, if Magilton does leave Ipswich it will be for someone bigger than Everton.
I heard they made an approach, but sadly it was knocked back. Maybe Tobes insider can shed more light.....
Tbf Tobes, he has been asked about every managerial position since he came to Saints, be it the Dutch National, this club, that club, big club, small club, and every time he has said that he will see out his contract, at least. He has even said it the other way round several times, in that he will not go to another club during his contract, but he will see it to the end, if the club don't sack him. It took us a wee while at Saints that he's that kind of guy. When he says something he means it and there's no going back on it. So you could offer him Barcelona and he wouldn't go until the end of his contract. There is an addition to this. He's also said that he is happy. He has said that if he remains happy he will stay for longer. By all means trawl through the pre-match press conferences of the past two seasons and you will hear him patiently say these things time and again, when he's asked yet one more time. Also, the last BBC Solent Saints forum had him speaking about his intentions and happiness. So while one or two were quaking a bit, the vast majority of it us were quietly confident that Ron will be staying at least until the end of the coming season, and many of us are getting more confident of him signing for a lot longer. Quite rare to find a man of principle, but I think we've got two in Ron and his brother Erwin.
Not sure about what. I said a lot of things. Tbh, you've been one of the flappers, so you wouldn't be sure.
What I highlighted. I haven't seen anyone think he's staying for a lot longer. A year or two is the general consensus.
I knew he wasn't going to Everton when Adam Blackmore asked him "Are you interested in the Everton job?" and Ron replied "no" on Friday 13th of May.
Well I'd say that two years on top of the end of next year was significantly or a lot longer. Indeed, it even gives him time to think about extending that contract.
I dunno, extending by two years means we're two seasons into five contracted seasons of Koeman. I'd say not even being half-way through after two full seasons would constitute a lot longer of having him in charge, in my mind.
Indeed, that was yet another I'm staying confirmation. I think the media operate on the principle [if they have any] that if they ask Ron enough times he'll eventually say... oh, all right then.
I think that Ron will sign for at least the next two years and that the Arsenal job situation will be resolved at the end of next season, with either Wenger signing a new deal or a new manager coming in. I don't believe that Ron will have any release clauses and will see his new contract out.
Thank you DTLW. Exactly what I meant. You'd do well in media. I'd make my career go in that direction if I was you.
