We are nearly there again The WPL will be starting in just over 3 weeks time. As far as I am concerned the scoring system can remain as it was last year, unless anyone has ideas about possible changes to it - if so then all feedback is welcome and I have enough time to bring in any changes. The rules here are only provisional at the moment. As always I will be ignoring Friday and Monday night fixtures (unless Watford are playing then) and keeping it as a weekend thing - when necessary drawing fixtures also from the championship or serie A when necessary. I can keep the idea of the joker - which can only be played on a fixture not involving Watford. The scoring system will (probably) be as follows - unless anyone wants me to scale it down in any way:

You get 10 points automatically for remembering to tip.

3 points for a home win (wrong scoreline, wrong score difference eg. 1-0 against 3-0)
5 points for an away win (eg. 0-1 against 0-3)
4 points for a draw (eg. 1-1 against 0-0) plus 5 bonus points for the correct score difference = 9.
5 bonus points for correct score differences eg. 1-0 against 2-1, or 0-1 against 1-2 etc.

Correct scoreline eg. 2-1 against 2-1 = 25 points
Unique scoreline ie. you are the only tipper to get a scoreline absolutely correct = 20 bonus points (only valid if 20 or more people are tipping)
Anything scored on Watford results is doubled.
You have a (weekly) joker which can be played on any one of the other 9 fixtures - anything you score on this is doubled.
All of this is the same as last year - there is one addition. In the unlikely event of tipping all 10 fixtures partly correct (ie. you score something on all 10) then there is a bonus of 50 points for this - my feeling is that an achievement such as this should have priority over 'getting lucky with one result'. In reality such a thing would happen rarely.

sorry its a bit late but if there is less that 20 tips in a week then poss 10 bonus points for a Unique scoreline being the only one to post it right with 17 or 18 and not getting a bonus is a little unfair

 

I tend to agree Brian.....the unique scoreline bonus will come into operation if we have a reasonable number of posters (at the beginning of the competition) - it doesn't depend on people remembering to post on any particular week. There has to be a borderline somewhere on that, but I can lower that to eg. 15. We have lost quite a few posters on the board and so our league could be smaller (maybe around 20) . It would be good if people tipped a little earlier so that I have an idea of the numbers participating - particularly as Watford have an early kick off.
