Dawson doing the presser with Mick this morning. please log in to view this image Big news of the day, it seems the bacon sandwiches and tea have returned. “I feel good. Games is what you need and I was delighted to be involved in the last two. Hopefully I can keep improving.” “We’ve been working hard on the defensive side of our game. We’ve got to get back to keeping clean sheets.” “We’ve got to do that collectively - and hopefully we can do so on Saturday to help us pick up some points.” Phelan up now... “It’s always nice to win games as we did in midweek. The way we performed at Bristol City was pleasing as well.” “Everyone's got a smile on their face now. It’s amazing how quickly things can change in football.” “We needed the win after a frustrating run of defeats. Hopefully we can build on the Bristol City result at Watford on Saturday.” Phelan On Diomande's charge - "We’re looking at that situation at the moment. "It came to our attention yesterday and we were presented with all the evidence. "We’re going to review it, speak to the player and see what the possibilities, whether we appeal or not and we have to do that by the end of today." "At the time I didn’t see it. It was literally just as the ref blew the whistle. "Nothing was said about it. "During the game, there was an incident where Dio took a knock in the lower regions. "He felt that quite badly but nothing was done about it or said about it." Phelan confirms that Diomande's ban will start this weekend if the club do not appeal against the violent conduct charge. City played 3-5-2 against Bristol City and Phelan says it's an option against Watford tomorrow. He said: "We ended the game against Stoke like it and it helped and we won playing like that at Bristol, so it’s a possibility. "It does suit some of the players and does give us a chance in the game to be in it and win it. "It’s something that’s at the back of my mind." On Tymon - We're looking to play him more, there has been interest from other clubs and we're looking at a long term contract. He's denied today's story about us being in for Ravel Morrison, but has said we're already looking at targets for January. Injury update - Mbokani progressing well, McGregor hoping to play a game next week and Lenihan is ready to play.
So either there was something else afoot previously. The Allams have gone back on their decision to remove the butties and tea. Or it was all a storm in a tea cup. Good to see Daws back. Slightly worrying that although we'll almost certainly be playing 3-5-2, its because Phelan has no choice. When he has options, he picks the wrong ones. When he has no options, he nails it. I assume Dio is available until the hearing, whenever that is?
I see MP is saying Lenihan's fit, anyone know if he's any good and is he likely to get a game anytime soon?
He played in the league against Bolton last season. How was this brought up? Interesting that Lenihan was even mentioned at a press conference.
Hopefully that's just a Bruce-esque bit of media nonsense and not that he actually doesn't realise that the same players are available
It was just part of MP's injury update. Injury update - Mbokani progressing well, McGregor hoping to play a game next week and Lenihan is ready to play.
Erm No. http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/...e-back-likely-to-remain-in-place-3385913.aspx Mike Phelan says that circumstances mean the three-at-the-back system used against Bristol City in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night is likely to be a common feature in the coming weeks. Apology accepted
TBH he did seem to be giving away too much info to the enemy, and I'm not convinced he has the media skills of Brucie.
Me neither. I thought he was still ages away... ****in' 'ell, as if the Jak/Marshall debate wasn't exhausting enough...
That's an interesting quandry to be in isn't it? I don't think any of our 3 are that bad. I think Marshalls been stitched up with **** tactics and poor team selections as well as less than expected effort from the outfield players. Jak's not put a foot wrong really. Greegsy's a decent goalie too. At the moment I think I'd go with Jak but what a horrible decision to have to make in all honesty.
Ah my bad, I didn't realise you were in a particularly pedantic mood today. Yeah we've obviously got loads of options and he doesn't think we need to play 3 at the back at all.
I'm not always a fan of 3-5-2, but I certainly think it suits us at the moment. I hope it's anything but 1 up front. I do think that whatever Mike chooses though, will be a defining moment in Mike's season with us, because if he sticks with 4-5-1, I really fear for us. We need to take at least a point from the Watford game imo.
