It hasn't got a Michelin Star, there's only two Michelin Star restaurants in North Yorkshire and neither are in Thirsk.

Thanks for all of the replies so far. Ideally I would want it reasonably local - her family and friends are mainly Scarborough based, so at worst I want somewhere halfway in between - I like the look of Wold Top Brewery and also of one called Oaklands which is near Brandesburton

Yep, Black Swan and the Star Inn. Both very good.

Crab and Lobster is fine as long as you like massive portions and slabs of butter in everything. It's a proper heart-attack-on-a-plate venue.

Have a great day though and best wishes fella.

Don't waste your money mate. Listen to all the wise advice on here. If you are stupid enough to do it ('in love') go abroad.

100% what I'd do - well not a beach but abroad. And it's not cos of the setting, it's an excuse not to invite the freeloader ****s we've just referenced who will take the price up to something stupid. Closest family and friends onlyand you can pay for your own flights and hotels. Done. A mate had a good idea actually, he said if, without asking, you can't find his house to collect the invite then you're not coming.

I'd plan on getting wrecked anyway and I don't want to spend that much on a day I don't remember.

I went to Black Swan for a birthday present, thought it was really average to be honest. Not a patch on Man Behind The Curtain.
