Aluko and Ramirez hoping for returns against West Ham....

Gaston Ramirez and Sone Aluko were both expected to return to training on Friday morning with manager Steve Bruce hopeful of including both players in his squad to face West Ham United at Upton Park on Sunday.

Ramirez has missed the last two games with a groin problem but has recovered quicker than expected while Aluko missed last weekend’s defeat at West Brom with a calf injury. Both have done bits and pieces on the training ground this week and were expected to take a full part in training on Friday.

Although the returns of Ramirez and Aluko would boost Bruce’s options, he remains without the services of Nikica Jelavic (knee), Abel Hernandez (groin), Mohamed Diame (knee), Andrew Robertson (ankle), Liam Rosenior (hamstring) and Robert Snodgrass (knee).

I reckon he'll just chuck Ramirez and Aluko up there, I expect to see..

    Greegsy
    Chester Davies Bruce Figgy
    Elmo Huddlestone Livermore Brady
    Ramirez
    Aluko

I'd rather see Ince on the left and put Brady up top in all honesty but I think Bruce's love for Aluko will earn him a start. Like to see Dawson come in for Davies too.

How do you recover from a groin strain that quickly? He'll no doubt go off before half time with a worse problem than before, as we haven't taken due care with an injury. We've seen it with Fryatt, Aluko et al.

West Ham might be playing in a kit with no sponsor on Sunday, their kit sponsor Alpari have just been declared insolvent.

I think we're going to see Sagbo and Aluko up front again at the weekend, and neither of them will have any sort of positive impact on the game. The problem is they're the only two fit 'strikers' we have, so are probably the best option we've got without throwing Rossi/Annan/A N Other in there on Sunday.

As we seem unable to score, nil nil would be seen as a good result? Really hate being so negative about the team i’ve supported since 1965. I just wish we’d put opposing teams under some pressure at least.

I think we will see Brady up front with Aluko. God help us, Aluko is Cack. We would be better off giving MaGuire a shot up front. Aluko has had more than enough opportunities and achieved nowt. We have nothing to lose with giving Maguire a go

3 of our top scorers are out injured with Jelavic (6), Diame (4) and Hernandez (3) all on the sidelines. Our highest scorer on the pitch on Sunday will be Chester with 2. <laugh>

Hull City will not be making a move for Blackburn Rovers striker Rudy Gestede, manager Steve Bruce has confirmed this morning.

Several reports had claimed that City were close to agreeing a £4m deal for Gestede this week after Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer revealed an enquiry had been made for the 26-year-old.

However, Bruce has dismissed speculation of the Tigers landing Gestede, insisting it was “not going to happen” this month.

“I called Gary two or three days ago to clarify the situation and we talked briefly. It was a non-starter before we got anywhere,” said Bruce.

“I enquired about him and the answer came back not at the sort of figures we’re talking about.

    It’s not going to happen.”

City are searching for a new striker this month but, with finances tight, the focus will be on the loan market.

Bruce said he would work "every hour God sends" to bring in the right man.

He said: "It's always a key end of the pitch and you're only as good as your strikers. If they're fit and everyone's healthy, we're in a good place, but they're not at the moment.

"That's one area we'll look to do something. There's one or two things going on at the moment, but it's unlikely today or tomorrow, so we'll go with what we've got (against West Ham on Sunday).

"It's an important time. It is going to be difficult. We're working every hour God sends to get someone in."

I Agree, I watched Aluko against arsenal and his movement was awful, picked the ball up way too deep and was never willing to make a run in the box and when he does get it he gives it away.

Personally I couldn't give two ****s either way, I find inappropriate censorship to be abhorrent and I'd welcome mediated debate about religion, it's just not allowed.
