What a difference from this time last season. Last season... Game 1: Home vs Grimsby - Draw 0-0 Game 2: Away vs Barnet - Lost 2-0 Game 3: Away vs Altrincham - Lost 2-1 (Sinclair gets sent off) 19th in non league on just 1 point. This season... Game 1: Home vs Northampton - Lost 1-0 Game 2: Away vs Yeovil - Won 1-0 Game 3: Away vs Luton - Won 1-0 (Sinclairs scores the winner) 8th in League 2 on 6 points.
It's a good start, but it's only three games. We were poor at home against the Cobblers so I hope we don't do some bizarre 'awesome away, crap at home' nonsense! Getting a decent start to a season is a rarity for a Gashead - if we take all three point against Barnet on Saturday, I'll be amazed, as well as being chuffed to bits.
Of course I'm not suggesting we will go unbeaten and win the league. Just showing how far we have come in a year! My feet is firmly on the ground and a believer of taking it 1 game at a time
It would be nice to win against Barnet but a draw would be acceptable as long as the team play some good football
We look really strong. No need to fear anyone now. The stats v a fancied side are there for all to see and I am sure we'll be in the mix. It's a very long way to go, but I think we can enjoy a battle at the top of the table for a change. We haven't managed that in the league for years... even in the promotion season it was only a late run that got us into the playoffs. Hopefully we'll be a fixture in the top five or six all season... then who knows?
