On 6th May, 1954 - 62 years ago today - an Englishman did something we should never, ever forget. In 3 minutes, 59.4 seconds, Dr. Roger Bannister ran a mile. The four- minute psychological barrier was broken! It was absolutely earth shattering news that went around the world.

Dr. Bannister - that was one of the most memorable moments of my sporting memories. Sir, I salute you.

 

Not as fast as me with some psycho half cambodian half thai looney bint chasing me, hoying pool balls.

I used to run cross country for a certain unit. And did ok
Averaging just under 6 min miles. Not to shabby for cross country over 6-8 miles.

I am/was the worlds worst sprinter
Dawn French would probably beat me over 100m.

Today a 4 min mile is still good. But nothing special. But i guess then. What an achievement.

He set the standard. Cant ask for more than that.
