Both have to drunk ice cold, even fridge cold can sometimes be not cold enough. Also, some of the cans in some smaller markets can be several years old - the buggers buy them cheap and bleach off the use-by dates.

Bought from masymas. Only supermarket for miles with thousands of expats here. It's not out of date.

Just been in the local pensionista. Had 8 pints and 4 plates of tapas between us. Came to 11 Euros. The squid was inedible to be fair utterly vile. Meatballs though were the best I've ever eaten, came in a sauce that was like pea soup.

on another note, bought some boating shoes / moccasin type things to wear here. Been wearing them for a week sockless. They now ****ing stink of cheese and vinegar. I don't normally have smelly feet. I'm sure a Frenchman would probably love the smell of them.

Have the espadrilles got rope soles - if they have, that is why they 'perfume' especially if the soles have got wet.

I had ice cold cans of Mahou in Santander last year. I was necking them in two gulps, they were lovely.
I only tend to encounter Amstel on flights and it's never properly cold so I consider it to be piss in the main. Probably wrong when it's cold though.

All this talk of cold lagers has me fancying a pint. That will have to wait till tomorrow. There's a bar over the river sells Moretti on tap, bloody lovely.

To be fair the mahou wasn't cold enough. Got a few left.

They're not espadrilles they're boating shoes. Leather ones and they stink. Off to a restaurant that is trying for a Michelin star. Apparently people travel down from Valencia and Madrid to eat there. The menu is in Spanish and the staff don't speak English. Should be entertaining adding to my boozy afternoon.

Also have to agree with @Chief on the morretti. Lovely beer. Much more flavour than the in vogue peroni.

Had a couple of the estrella Galicia's the other night. Was like a dark malty lager. Very nice.

Anyone tried turia? Again is quite malty. Knocked me sideways.

We don't get Turia Damm over here as a rule, one or two restaurants stock it but I haven't seen it in any of the supermarkets we use. Beer, like most things here is very regional. Menorca was anti-Franco back in the day (which explains why it is so underdeveloped compared to the other islands - it was literally starved of cash by the govt for supporting the royals) - as a result they want nothing to do with mainland Spain other than all things from Barcelona - for example you would be hard pressed to find San Miguel over here anywhere other than the odd 'Irish bar' - Damm is the cerveza of choice . The other islands are the complete opposite.... that's why it has taken so long for the Estrella Galicia to reach here, Galicia being Franco's homeland. Strange to think that modern societies still hold to these dated attitudes and cultural allegiances. Vino tinto and suckling pig time - Salut.

Tried the home brew and it's ok. As it's a bitter I think it may benefit from the recommended one to two months in the bottle to mature.

    Will do a lager next.

Off out to a fish restaurant for the evening. I can't be rude and not go, but I hate fish, I hate even the smell of fish - I've never been able to eat any kind of fish or snot thing from a shell but it is important that I go. I shall have to sit a little away from the smelliest fish dish, eat the obligatory crap steak - the only consolation in the whole thing is that I am not the driver tonight so I shall get pissed on Damm and Tinto. Salut.

It's pretty easy. For every pint of Stella you drink, you will piss one pint of Carling.
