Martin Harvey Len Ashurst Charlie Hurley Ian Porterfield Gordon Harris George Herd Bruce Stuckey Colin Suggett George Mulhall Sub Albert Brown. Goals suggett and Mulhall. Best for Man U. Bruce stuckey. Albert Brown?
30th September 1978, we actually beat West Ham 2-1 on the same day! So at least I started with a good record, just downhill after that!!!
16th August 1975 beat Chelsea 2-1 at Roker. My dad was there! I was 4 days old so reckon my mother would've been pissed "nowadays" but back then it probably wouldn't have been an issue
3 days old and on the 9th January 1960 we drew 1-1 with Blackburn in the FA Cup. We lost the replay 4-1 which really soured the milk I'll tell ya!
Lost 1-0 to Rotherham 18th March 1960. Day before my launch into this world. I recall being devestated when my dad told me on the 20th.
Yeh I was there I was surprised that Porterfield was in the team five years before the final I didn't realise he was with us for so long
Good parenting that though Gil. No point pussyfooting around the fact that your life as a mackem fan would be one long hard grind, with the odd glint of light through the darkness.
Yeh mate I remmember but I didn't realise he came to us that early I thought it was a lot later Just my memory not as good
Only know a few of these..... Bruce Stuckey if I remember correctly was one of those few players who score four goals on debut, them disappear without trace.
This would be our first ever season in any division other than the top. A unique and proud boast at the time. remember all of these players except the left half, it would soon be Jimmy McNab in that spot.
Born June 1950 so nearest game was last game of season on May 6 when beat Chelsea 4 - 1 at home. Recognise some of the names such as Ivor Broadis but none were playing by my first game in 1958. We ended up 3rd in the old 1st Division.
Born 10 March 1949, the following day we won 3-1 at wolves and finished third in the league 1 point behind the winners.
