Who remembers Johnny Rep from Bastia, 1978-9 I think?

I can remember listening to the football on the radio in my mam and dads backroom as we got beat of Bastia. You see we have always fcuking disappointed... 9 years old and feeling we would never win anything.. How times have changed. Its not a feeling anymore it a fcuking FACT.!!!!!

 

I remember 'lots of rep' from 2012.

 

Yep, unfortunately I can.

If my memory isn't failing it was the same season we went down after losing to them in the Inter Cities/ UEFA cup. Had never heard of them and then found out one Johnny Repp played for them.

Also we lost 9 on the bounce at the start of that season after having won the first game, I think, against Leeds.

 

Remember that game well. He scored an absolute screamer. Some Bastia fans got chucked out of the east stand for lighting a flare.

 

I remember that too. I think we actually won the first leg (or drew - not sure) but we got destroyed away 4-1.

Won the first game of that season 3-2 against Leeds. Remember watching it on MOTD on a B&W portable with my grandpa. We lost the next one 2-0 away to Liverpool and then just kept losing. I thought it was longer than 9 games but I remember it was Chelsea we finally beat 1-0 to get our second win of the season and I think the clocks had already gone back by then! But you know what - I still enjoyed that season better than this one!!

Edit - totally wrong about the Bastia scores. Not sure who I'm thinking of now.

Some old memories from 77/78 alright.
I was at Leeds, Bastia, most home games and a few away that season.
Throw in the destruction of the Leazes End, and it really was the pits.
Then of course there was Mr Dinnis, who is some ways reminds me of Carver, for his ineptitude, but at least he finally turned on the board, unlike the current arse licker.
