Why are the youngsters always the fall guys? Anyone could've come off in that back 5 but he chose the academy product!!
Pleased Norwich couldn't beat us this season, but do wish we'd just go for it, particularly in these matches. Death or glory n all that! Saying that, we were our stubborn best again, Bart keepting us in it, and had we got the penalty shout we could've nicked this one.
I think the result masks how bad we actually are. Even though we should've had a penalty, there was only one team that wanted to win this match, and we definitely rode our luck at times. Shame Bart made that one mistake, because without him today, could've easily lost by 3 or 4. The only positive for me (other than the result), was I actually thought Skuse had a pretty decent game in breaking up play and putting himself about, and McG who was the only one trying to do something with the ball other than hoof it. I think Johnno summed it perfectly pre-match - if the owner wants to start competing for promotion, we need a complete overhaul of staff and players.
Johnnie also said that if MM was the Norwich manager they would definitely get promoted, personally I'm happy with a point from the match and considering their squad had a combined value of £57M it makes it a good result for us. We missed Lawrence without a doubt and Huws was invisible and should have been subbed earlier, Spence was struggling on the right flank and should have had some help from a mid fielder but we did our best with what we had and came away with a draw. Perhaps some people would have been happier if we had attacked non stop, left ourselves short at the back, and lost 5 - 1, don't see it myself.
Skuse did get some good tackles in but he still does nothing with the ball. One of the reasons for our ponderous build up play if you ask me.
If Lawrence had kept his mouth shut we would had someone that was prepared surge forward with the ball at his feet, and if he had outrun the support would be prepared to have a shot at goal that's usually on target and create a genuine scoring opportunity, but he couldn't shut it and now we see exactly where we are lacking.
FM - I agree it was a good result on paper, but if we are going to places like Norwich, and content with holding them for a draw and not having any attacking ideas, then something is surely not right. Where's the ambition gone? Surely it's better to try to win and lose, than to not try at all? I have a lot more respect for teams like Burton and Rotherham, who are not the best teams in the league, but at least they try and play football to win.
We know something's not right Stretchy and we know it's because we have very little quality, and that can only change when we have a valid, effective transfer budget regardless of who the manager is. You would rather be like Rotherham, Burton,? At least one of those Clubs is getting relegated probably so not for me thanks, I want Evans to fund the transfer budget so we don't have to continually search for players like a tramp at a jumble sale.
Good points here, it's that dilemma of playing anti-football but getting a hard fought point or trying to go for the win and leaving ourselves wide open. With the squad that Norwich have I don't really blame the tactics on Sunday. If we'd had Lawrence available and no Skuse it might have been a different approach maybe?
Spot on CS and an attacking player in the Lawrence mode is one we desperately need for next Season after he has gone to another Club, the difference was glaring in our play going forwards.
