My blood pressure is bang on. Most of my internal organs are failing, but never had a problem with my blood pressure. Though it does seem I have a problem with my telly, as it seems that on my screen the ball kept being given away, but on younger people's tellies, they retained the ball really well. I've called Curry's, they're sending someone round.
Lambo's only stating facts from last nights game. People don't need to get so defensive. They really did struggle to keep possession and couldn't string together more than a few passes. Whether this is the norm for womens football I couldn't day.
I've come into this late but hamg on, you're the big advocate of womens football yet you hope Japan beat England? Or at least demonstrate their superiority against us? For what it's worth, I don't care if the standard is lesser. People still watch women in other sports and don't need to compare it to the men. But of course the standard is weaker in women in pretty much every sport and pointing that out isn't the crime its being made out to be. The keepers may well be shorter than the men and that may play a part in the keepers being of a poor standard (if indeed they are, I've missed it all so far) but that doesn't mean the goalkeeping standard doesn't matter. If someone finds the game less entertaining with **** keepers, the knowledge that they're shorter won't be much consolation.
Of course the keepers are shorter than men and that presents extra problems (my view is that the goal and pitch should be slightly smaller than in the men's game). But my earlier criticism of the keepers was very much a matter of what they do with shots, crosses and passes they CAN reach. Bardsley has had a very poor tournament, handling-wise.
Agree sexism seems to be laughed at at times I know it's only messing around but give them some respect they've done well. Just need to retain the ball more
Funny that they never got this far when they had Kelly Smith, who was completely on another level technically from every other England player, yet now she's gone they effectively overachieve.
The women were conceding possession more than men but I don't think it was due to lack of skill. I think they were playing percentage football. They thought that if they risked an incisive pass they could have a chance on goal that could be converted. Men are more concerned by the ProZone stats so they opt for the easy pass.
What was the problem with Bardsley's right eye that she had to come off.? I didn't see a collision or anything physical.
What's with the manager and various others, going around, saying this is the third ever England team to reach a world cup semi-final. Do I have to point out that the English learning disabilities team won the world championship in 2002. Do they think they're better than them or something. That sort of inherant prejudice in women's football apalls me.
I know. The England u21s have won the Euros twice, runners up once and also reached 5 semis on top of that. I know it isn't a World Cup, but u21s don't have World Cups. The u20s have reached 2 semi finals. The u19s have won the Euros 9 times (don't have a World Cup). The u17s have won 2 Euros (again, don't have a World Cup).
I might start watching Hall City ladies instead of the men. Less diving, falling over, fouling, swearing at the officials etc etc etc.
Of course I want England to win, I just flagged up Japans strengths. Lordy lordy whats with you moderators I only had issue with OLMS comment comparing the womens game to 'kids football' and I'm sure he knows thats a bit insulting to our ladies, and you are right, you have come late and I'm not arguing AGAIN
