A lot of us would have gladly swapped Wenger for Klopp of Pep. But would they be doing any better than Wenger ? Both Liverpool and City are below us and both managers look to be struggling. thoughts ?
Bit unfair on Klopp to throw that bit in, if you took all 3 teams and picked a best 11 name 1 Liverpool player that would be in the starting line up. Klopp has done well with what he has so far.
Countiho, Mane, Firmino, Origi. and for City, Aguero, De Bruyne, Toure, Silva, Kompany, Zabaletta, Jesus ... There's basically a starting XI right there
So you wouldn't have any Arsenal players in it then, or did you not read the bit where I said "all 3 teams" ? If you picked a best 11 from all 3 squads, how many Liverpool players would be in it? My point was, Klopp does not have the quality to work with that Wenger and Pep have.
I listed the Liverpool players that would make that squad. Don't make out that Klopp doesn't have quality players to chose from. And what about Pep?, would he be doing any better at Arsenal given, the players he has at his disposal at City ?
Think Pep and klopp would do better with your squad...he would not tolerate some of the sheer laziness of some of your players and would never have let arsenal players celebrate equalising v Bournemouth. They'd have been expected to get their arses back so the match could restart. Only Sanchez looks like he gives a **** sometimes.
Sanchez might have wanted Real Man United, but not the one we have beed watching for the last 3 seasons.
You must be joking about Origi. Yes he had a decent run last year... but He's still only 21 and raw as ****. Massive potential but nowhere near good enough yet
Liverpool in all honesty have 1 good defender, a couple of good midfielders and 3 decent attacking players...the rest are average or out of position. It's Klopps tactics that made us look so good early season. We now look like a pedestrian Rodgers team. I think the genenpressing style Klopp wants needs a bigger squad as it's too fast paced to last a full season. Clearly Klopp is still learning the difference between the PL and the Bundesliga. He'll have to adapt next season, or buy major reinforcements in the summer. But to answer the OP. Klopp with your squad would be doing far better than Wenger is imo.
To be honest the answer to your question is we would have had to try it to see. It's no use answering "what may have been". It's the simple act of actually trying and having the ambition to improve that alone would have worked wonders on the current fans and club as a whole. The truth is most likely anyone who would have replaced wenger would have a better chance of winning the league because the simple act of a refresh in the manager department alone would revitalize everyone associated with AFC and given everyone hope and patience once more.
Would Klopp or Pep have taken all this time to build your current squad? If either had been at your club for the past decade I think you'd have done better.
This would be a much more appropriate question. If any of the top 5 managers of the PL had the time Wenger to build a squad, they would have done better. No manager at present has as much support and resources as Wenger does at present.
Quite agree. The board & owner are happy to support the same mediocre performance every year. No enthusiasm. As Jamie Redknapp says in todays Daily Mail "A new manager would have little to follow in terms of trophies but would inherit a club with a great academy, superb training ground and money to spend". I think Wenger still misses David Dein who advised him well on the transfer front.
