Former Tottenham and QPR player Taarabt in desperate situation, banished by club By Lucas Sposito - 9th September 2016 http://sportwitness.co.uk/former-tottenham-qpr-player-taarabt-desperate-situation-banished-club/ Former Tottenham and Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adel Taarabt is living a nightmare after the transfer window closed. The player isn’t getting any game-time in Portugal, and after falling out with Benfica’s manager and president, he can’t find a solution to play. In an chat with the club’s official channel this week, Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira said Taarabt won’t wear the club’s shirt again: “Taarabt is my and Rui Costa’s fault. But he’s a good player. I don’t understand anything about football, but I have a man by my side who understands a lot, which is Rui Costa. “We watched and re-watched his games. But there are things lacking. He arrived with six extra pounds, but now he’s at the right weight. After the interview he gave, he certainly won’t wear the Benfica shirt. But we’ll have enough skill to loan him.” The interview mentioned by Vieira was given by Taarabt to France Football on August 22nd. At the time, the player took the chance to explain the entire situation and begged for a French club to rescue him. Taarabt said the Benfica president had argued with his coach, trying to get him picked, but Rui Costa would have none of it. The 27 year old complained that he was training with a group of other unwanted players. The footballer, who seems to attract these kind of situations, also complained about non payment of salary and and then added: “I’ve never had a season like this in my life. I have been in Portugal for a year, but I feel I have already stayed there for six years. To not play, it made me mad.” Not as mad as the interview seems to have made Luis Filipe Vieira. Taarabt joined Benfica from QPR last summer on a free transfer, but after one year at the club, he still doesn’t have any official appearances with the red shirt. In the same interview, he also mentioned he was jealous of Hatem Ben Arfa, and wanted an opportunity like his at Nice. He said he’d accept a move to Marseille, but that never happened. Now this situation is just getting sadder and sadder. There must be something fundamentally wrong. Do not suggest bringing back to our club...our club has changed. But someone needs to get in there to help him....and quickly too
Tough - he had so much opportunity and talent but like so many before him was too arrogant / stupid I'm not even convinced that he wants to play unless it is on his own terms Utter, Utter waste
When NW took Adel on, the player had DIFFICULT written on his forehead. Now he has TROUBLE written on it, it will take a brave, or more likely, rash manager to take him on If there was an "Own-Foot Shooting Club", Taarabt would be its President
Can't be bothered with him now, he's had numerous chances and blown them all, the sooner he disappears into obscurity the better.
I think Swords had it spot on when he said over and over and over again thst Tarbs was possibly lacking a little in the intelligence stakes
I honestly don't think Taarabt loves football. If he truly did, things would be different. I imagine he enjoyed playing at school in the yard, his ability took him forward, he got noticed and before he knew it was in over his head in a career that he isn't truly passionate about, at least not passionate to the degree you need to be to get on and do well. He should have paid attention to the other subjects at school.
Ability - unquestioned Application of ability.....questioned by all People behind should leave him alone to see if he can get his huge head from between his buttocks. At this time...a very wasted talent
Maybe Adel has been waiting for a former (successful) player that he can respect to guide him. Harry Rednapp wasn't that guy. He might respect our current manager. Didn't Mark Hughes have some effect and get him focused and better?
Twice the player and half the trouble of another misfit linked with us (Ravel Morrison). I wouldn't want him back... but... could he just pop in to do cup games and testimonials? Or to do a coaching session on nutmegs and use of the outside of the boot. [He was mesmerising when he turned up though wasn't he?]
Cheers and fair play Beth, I do often wounder like many how he is getting on and I'm not really surprised when I read this, He is his own worst enemy and such a waist of natural talent he has been gifted. He ether has a very poor agent giving him bad advise or he is just a victim of his own over inflated ego! Such a real shame!
The talent may be there but for the first time in ages it feels like we have a settled squad with no dressing room disruptive egos, this right now is more useful for our progression as a team imo!
I'll tell you what's sad. People criticising a player who almost single handedly got us promoted on his own. What a load of unappreciative fans some of us are. I enjoyed watching him every minute he was here.
