I've no idea what my favourite headed goal would be, my memory's terrible, but I'm pretty sure it would be one of Stuart Elliot's.
Abel's v Arse was very good too. Great build up leading up to it. This vid doesn't do the build up justice
Elliott's at the death against DQPR was fantastic too. The ****s got what they deserved that day. After some thought, this one is probably my favourite. In fact, one of my favourite City goals period. Meyler's versus TWS (as posted by Ben) was a beaut too.
Didnt big Abdi Faye score a few good headerers? Plus that last 5 minutes of one game where he kept heading every ball was ace.
Richard Garcia's own goal where it hit him in the face from a corner and landed in the back of our next. Think it was against Everton at Goodison. Comedy gold.
Jay Simpson scored a nice header at Ipswich a few years back, had his back to goal and it flew in. That or the Elliott above against QPR - they were time wasting right from the kick off that day.
He scored a great diving header against TWS. Actually forgot how good it was until watching this. That Ipswich game was the one in which Stewart got ****ed up if I recall. Good backward header that.
Les Mutrie on the end of a cross by Marwood in a 3 - 1...I think against Port Vale but could be wrong.
Yeah I had thought it was the same game. Shame, you could see defenders were petrified of his pace when he was running at them. Apart from a spell at Charlton he was never the same.
1. Kevin Francis v Chesterfield, old north stand. 2. Ashbee at Barnsley, mentioned above. 3. Ashbee v Palace - forgot about that one till I read it above. 4. Elliott v QPR, mainly because we stiffed those miserable, cheating b******* from behind in the last few minutes. I screamed like a scalded toddler when Cousin put us 1-2 up at Arsenal. Don't know where that should go.
Gary Swann scored two goals away at Lincoln in the early 80's and one was a corking diving header. Maybe not my favourite headed goal but it sticks in my memory as it was the game when he was finally accepted by the bulk of the fans.
I think that was a 1-0 win against Middlesbrough towards the end of our first promotion season under Bruce. Yes the last few minutes of that game they kept pumping it long and he boshed it as far as he could every time, one of the best performances from a City centre back I've seen.
In recent times:- But I vaguely remember a hilarious goal after a three man round of head tennis in the box at BP many years ago. Chilton, Waggy and A N Other I think.
