If there is a recall clause or some way we can end the season long loan deal then OK I could just about buy that. But If he is there for the season and as he is impressing, then we have shot ourselves in the foot, as I'm quite sure with the goals and form he is currently exhibiting would warrent at least a good proportion of his wages being paid by a number of suitors were he to become available in January for example. OK if he had stunk up the place he may have been sent back in earlier but we still wouldn't be losing anything. You can't tell me that arranging a free loan for an old player like him for a whole year was anything other than stupid unless it leads directly to his sale or a paid for loan in January, clauses allowing? But a year long! Free! Bah!
I am sure that a season long loan has no possibility of a recall. It is a season long permanent transfer.
Just seen this on teh BBC website - "The Aberdeen fans have fallen in love with Maddison. During Saturday's 4-0 defeat of Ross County, there was a ripple of applause from the home support virtually every time he was involved in the game. His ability on the ball is sometimes mesmerising. We should enjoy him while we've got him in Scottish football." Can't say fairer than that, but I'm sure if he came back to Norwichin January, AN would continue to play Hoolahan
With Naismith as next in line - and Pritchard and Maddison far from his plans. Bewildering in the extreme.
More praise for Maddison - "Former Norwich City goalkeeper Joe Lewis believes the Canaries have got “a Premier League player” on their hands in James Maddison. City fan Lewis has been able to see Maddison at close quarters this season at Aberdeen and the Dons keeper has been impressed at the impact of the Canaries youngster. Maddison’s loan spell at Pittodrie comes to an end in January and Lewis hopes a deal can be struck to extend the 19-year-old’s stay north of the border." http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...ames_maddison_says_canaries_old_boy_1_4748717
I read that earlier, what surprised me was that it was 2008 when he moved to Posh, it feels like much longer ago than that, and my, hasn't he filled out!
Classic “Can he go on to play for a bigger club than Norwich? I’m the wrong person to ask that question – there’s not a bigger club.”
Lappin on trial with York City. http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic..._simon_lappin_on_trial_at_york_city_1_4760016
Neither youth nor loanee, but a cracker from Vadis for Legia Warsaw last night. Sign him up, Neyul!! [Bale's opener wasn't half bad, either!]
Taken from the BBC website Partick Thistle V Aberdeen - "James Maddison has had a few nice touches for Aberdeen. The 19-year-old is the only player on show wearing gloves. He's from balmy Coventry right enough,so probably isn't used to these chilly Glasgow evenings". "Good vision from James Maddison as the teenager spots Jayden Stockley powering forward from halfway. Thistle keeper Thorsten Stuckmann advances into no man's land, leaving a gaping target to aim for and the Dons forward finds it in style with a lovely, lofted finish."
Andreau scored again and Maddison made one for the Dons. Toffolo not in Irons squad. Rudd in goal in Charlton cup win against Irons.
An interview with James Maddison, what a nice, grounded lad he is! I do hope he gets his chance with us! http://www.afc.co.uk/news/8770.php?#.WCvk5eaLTIU
Thanks for that link Dave and as you say, let's hope he does get a chance to show his skills in yellow and green.
I, for one, want to see him sooner rather than later. Will be very disappointed if he does not feature for us after his loan finishes in January. I will upset a lot of fans now, but Wes is a luxury that we can ill afford in this struggle to get promotion. The fact is, Wes is a player more suited to the premier league than the cutthroat hurly burly of the championship, where he has less room, and less time, to perform. If Maddison is not given a chance, I am sure that a Southampton or similar will be only too glad to do so. We may make a profit financially, but we would be losing on the pitch.
