France are going to ban it? not sure what impact that will have over here (if any). why are the garlic munching surrender monkeys bothered now? They weren't bothered during the war!

Daniel White ‏@danwhitejourno Yannick Sagbo called Anelka a "legend" on Twitter alongside a picture of the latter doing the "quenelle" gesture. Will he be punished too?
Official WBA statement WEST Bromwich Albion has noted The FA’s charge against Nicolas Anelka regarding the gesture he made after scoring his first goal against West Ham United on December 28. Anelka has received a 34-page document explaining the allegations against him and informing him that he has until 6pm on Thursday to respond. The player is now considering his options. Under FA rules, Anelka remains available for first-team selection until The FA’s disciplinary process has reached its conclusion. Following this, the Club will conclude its own internal enquiry. http://www.wba.co.uk/news/article/nicolas-anelka-update-1307548.aspx#c3hQoRcFZH8hcMRE.99
I really don't get this. Is there some reason that black French people in particular want to do this gesture?
From what I understood before this incident, I thought it more an anti-establishment or anti-Zionist salute than a purely anti-semitic one. Either way he's a bit silly if he thought no one in France was watching.
FourFourTweet ‏@FourFourTweet West Bromwich Albion have told Nicolas Anelka he will have to find his own lawyer if he wants to fight the FA charge for 'quenelle' gesture.
I think you're omitting an 'M' word there. Not really a colour thing. The elephant in the room and all that.
Not sure why so many people are bothering with this. Sulky greedy French footballer does sly vaguely anti Establishment/Jewish gesture in goal celebration, referencing obscure French African 'comic'. Not of interest to most British folk. Leave em to it.
There was some bloke on SSN who claimed it was highly offensive and Anelka would have known that. f**k knows who he was though. What happened to Bosnic when he gave a Nazi salute to the Spurs fans? By rights Anelks should be looking at a similar punishment.
It's not important to me, no. Is it to you? Does that make it important ? I don't think it is to most people in this country.
I'm not going to pretend to be particularly offended or even bothered but I do find this case interesting because, as I've said before (and sorry TWF but I'm going to say it again) I can't understand why racism is so widely condemned in some forms but not others. There was some Jewish bloke on the news earlier saying that if Anelka had make an anti-black gesture there would be outrage and this isn't being treated the same way. I think he was spot on with that. For some reason anti-semitism is an almost acceptable form of racism in this country. I've no idea whether this gesture was anti-semitic or not and I'm happy to let the powers that be deal with that and accept their verdict either way but I just find the public opinion of it very strange compared to similar events involving different ethnic groups.
