Surely the frontage could be retained and installed as part of the Streetlife Museum. The council should at least save it and store it for the time being. I would imagine any demolition contractor would get a pretty penny from a architectural salvage firm for it.
I used to know someone who was very senior in the sign industry who swears blind that signage isn't a word and people just add age onto words to make them sound better.

That's a concern in lots of places. The only upside (usually) is that they fail during the winter and then someone makes the same mistakes, but a new name, diffent offering and so folk walk the cobbles again. Life can be cruel and kind at the same time.
