I see Torquay where two miles away at Bromley today...lost 1-0.....just above the relegation battle.....I didn't fancy going.

I've just been looking at the fixture list for the rest of the season. We have 18 matches left and half of them are against teams currently in the top 10. So take us out of the top ten and we have to play all of the remainder. That's quite a hard list of games. Gulp.

But it also means half are against teams outside the top ten. No too worried about playing teams near the top, why would we be. We are 2nd on merit, not the best football team, but seem to have found a way to get results. Am guessing that 84/85 points should be enough to finish in the top 3 which by my maths is just over 9 wins out of 18. We don't really do draws so I think winning half our remaining games is very doable - and if we don't we probably don't deserve promotion.

Wasn't suggesting we weren't capable of winning any of those games but it's still a hard set of games nonetheless. Quite possibly by the time we play some in the bottom half they might be in the top half having gone on a run. Often there is one team at least that comes from nowhere and one more that disappears into oblivion having been setting the world on fire previously. However, this season there seem to have been a number of teams that have come and gone and some that are in the process of arriving when they had looked bolluxed before. Carlisle not lighting fires currently. Portsmouth the same andd not really mounting the challenge as yet. Yeovil went on a run and then dived again. Others like Notts County and Leyton Orient who can't buy a result. Wycombe were pants at the start along with Exeter and are now the two form sides in the league. Luton ok then not. Colchester the same. It's a strange old set of teams this time around. Consistency has been Doncaster and us who are one and two. I'm not so sure the points needed are quite so high this season.

In the absence of an Exeter match thread, I thought I'd report that I've been up to collect my Leyton Orient tickets. I saw portable toilets being removed and a pile of steelwork stacked in the carpark. No Mayflower seating for the Exeter game by the looks of it.

If they were left in place and people sat on them it would probably mean another complete police force being forced on Argyle to control the masses of delinquent hooligans. No doubt there will be an unlimited amount of the boys in blue on Saturday already earning their overtime. Quite amazing that they can send hundred to central park on a Saturday afternoon but if you want to report something and need one to come around your house on a Wednesday you have to wait a week minimum. Mr Brent wouldn't trouser enough pennies leaving the seats there........

Don't forget that the seats were originally only put in with the assistance of Liverpool, who waived their right to additional income and tickets for their fans. This last point is important as it didn't upset the arrangements with the Boys in Blue (the police, not Portsmouth FC) which would otherwise probably have taken months and involved all sorts of additional costs (e.g. the hire of an Apache gunship). That assistance may not have been forthcoming from Exeter.

By the way, I also saw quite a flashy French registered Mercedes A class in the car park. Who's is that then? Garita's or a new left back's?

Civic's and Jazz's are my type of car....but at the moment I've a Citroen C3....Mrs Plym wouldn't be able to cope with a Merc.

Watched that game myself Joe. Leicester should have had 2 penalties and the Derby keeper sent off. They got none of that so to be fair they deserved to win the match anyway. Wasn't a bad game for the neutral. The teams did look about equal for most of it though.

Amazing that only the games officials didn't see the goalie handle deliberately outside the box.....everyone inside the ground and half the nation on the telly saw it.

I thought only the second penalty shout was one.....but in hindsight and numerous slow motion replays we have what the referee doesn't have, the time to review the moment.....why not ?

I did say it was a nice Merc - red brake calipers etc. Def not one to potter down to the garden centre in. I realised afterwards that Garita didn't travel to Spain, so it's probably his.
