I thought the main problem with LaLaLand was the lack of memorable tunes and the fact that neither of the leads were particularly good at either singing or dancing and the story was dull and it was at least half an hour too long. Apart from that it was great. The film I enjoyed most last year was probably Sully. Amazing story - when you see the event played out in real time it brings home what a miracle it was - great acting, a nice touch featuring all the rescue workers as themselves and the whole thing is done in 90 minutes.
Saw Moonlight last night, I can see why it was popular with the Oscars people. I would have enjoyed it more if I'd been able to understand more than half the dialogue.
Going to see that tonight. Can't decide if I find Gillian Anderson's accent in the trailers brilliant or laughable.
I don't know how you lot find time to watch so many films, don't you watch TV? For me the latter is producing far better output these days. I cant remember the last time I was blown away by a film the way TV often does. I actually can't think what the last brilliant new film I saw was. Maybe Black Swan, although I'm sure someone will remind me of something more recent.
I find it much easier to find a couple of hours for a film every now and again than I do to watch entire series. It baffles me how people at work manage to watch so many different TV series. I prefer to binge watch TV series after they have finished when I have a free week.
We hook a lap top up to the 60" TV/monitor in the brew room. It works a treat & helps to pass the time. Sometimes gets a bit rank when some divvy **** wants to hold, or log into, a meeting.
i was in a charity shop yesterday And got "pay it forward" on DVD For A quid... I saw it when it first came out, not seen it since, I love this film Looking forward to tonight... Pepsi, popcorn and pay it forward.. Got Mrs mop "afterwards", malkovich movie, thriller apparently, she's watching that on the laptop with headphones on... heartless bitch said my movies too sloppy... god she can be a hard cow sometimes...
Nocturnal Animals. Strange film, told a story with a story. Really liked first hour, then it needed 15mins on the cutting floor. Ending should have been stunning, but it took too long to get there, for me. The odd really good 'did that just happen' moment. Watch it; it is worth 2hrs of your time.
Gold - I won't spoil it for you with the details, but it's based on true events and had a very good start and middle, and a great ending. Well worth a watch.
