Sky Sports News HQ @SkySportsNewsHQ BREAKING: @PhilJones4 released from @England squad after injury in training. Wonder who's on the back-up list?
Livermore to start... England team to face Germany (3-4-3): Hart; Keane, Smalling, Cahill; Walker, Dier, Livermore, Bertrand; Lallana, Vardy, Alli.
Fraser Forster (Southampton), Joe Hart (Torino, on loan from Manchester City), Tom Heaton (Burnley), Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Michael Keane (Burnley), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Manchester City), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur), Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Michail Antonio (West Ham United), Ross Barkley (Everton), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), Jesse Lingard (Manchester United), Jake Livermore (West Bromwich Albion), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Nathan Redmond (Southampton), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), James Ward-Prowse (Southampton), Jermain Defoe (Sunderland), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) https://englandsupporters.thefa.com...ny-and-lithuania-fixtures#ZT2YiLGfkZsbe1XI.99
Probably sounds a ludicrous thing to level at a man who has played at the top level and who has done as much as Southgate in football, but he just doesn't strike me as a winner.
I'd sooner see (using the players in the players in the current squad); Heaton Dier Stones Cahill Walker Ward-Prowse Barkley Bertrand Lallana Alli Vardy
I think that's a fair point. He seems a decent enough fella. But not someone you'd probably be motivated much by. Not that you should need that motivation from the manager when putting on the shirt for your country, but still.
Carlo Ancelotti looks to me like the most uninspiring human being in the world yet he's won multiple league titles and multiple Champions Leagues.
