The Chelsea Spiral Watch (limited to the 2019/20 season)

Discussion in 'The Premier League' started by Hoddle is a god, May 8, 2017.

  1. With it looking almost certain that Chelsea will win the title, with only two games left to play, the only way is down for them, as there is little likelihood that they will repeat this season, next season.

Spurs have been alone in their pursuit of Chelsea, with the likes of City, United, and especially the Gunners being extremely disappointing and never getting out of the starting blocks. One must believe that United and City will put up more of a fight, next season. No one can be sure what the Gunners will do, since it is likely that they are a spent force. Don't quote me on that, because it's only a hunch.

My prediction is that anything less than a repeat of this season will be a spiral downwards for Chelsea.

And that's if Conte isn't poached by Barca, of course.

    What do you lads reckon?

NOTE: I don't want to see any silly talk of "wum **** up" or "rinsings" because this is a discussion thread, on a footy forum, okay.

I don't know why i'm responding but i shall humour you my wum-master general.

I think it will be very hard to repeat a potential double winning season.

Even if he does win the league, he'll potentially have to win another cup to better this season, so i think you might be correct in that regard.

Does winning the CL but not the league/double make it a better season just so we're clear what is a more or less successful season :p

Must be costing HIAG a fortune, this spinning class ...he's been at it all day and he's even got dual membership...:)

Can Chelsea retain the EPL title? ... would be very tough...even exceptional...incredibly difficult to win it in the first place ...only the best teams have :)

So, erm...let me get this right...

You are laughing at the team that beat you in a semi final and left you trailing behind them in the league?

    <laugh> Fair enough.

  8. Not laughing at them, at all, Archie.

I will be the first to congratulate Chavs when they claim the title, this season.

I'm merely giving voice to my fear that, next season, they will spiral down.

No one likes to see that.

You really are a wally Hiag!!

I think most Chelsea fans would accept it will be difficult to win the league again next year. It's been a while since anyone retained it that wasn't Alex Ferguson!

So if we 'spiral' and finish 2nd or 3rd next year, so be it. I'm more than happy with our 5 titles in 13 years. <party>

Indeed especially as the author of this ill advised thread said he doubted we would get into the top five. :emoticon-0136-giggl

Call it the same at the very least.

I would also add getting same/more points in the PL as this season, even if you don't
win the PL (your performance did not drop, others were just better) .

Really putting your neck on the line there Quentin.

If Chelsea win their remaining games then they'll have won more games over a 38 game season than any other team since the creation of the Premier League in '92. They'll also finish on the second highest points tally and they hold the record.

  13. Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, 18, wants the Blues to let him leave the club this week with Bayern Munich set to seal his signature.
    (Mail)

    Ouch!

Also, if Willian heeds China's "we'll come and save you!" plea, Chelsea could struggle for the rest of the season.

  14. Juventus have rejected Chelsea's offer of swapping Spain striker Alvaro Morata, 26, for the Old Lady's 31-year-old striker Gonzalo Higuain.

  15. Chelsea have enquired about Paris-St Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The 23-year-old France international is also a target for Barcelona.
    (L'Equipe - in French)

I bet PSG's chairman pissed his pants laughing!

Same old boring patter from HIAG.

Thrashing out at everything because Spurs’ chairman is a mongo and has crippled his own club and fans financially for the next 3 decades.

If HIAG was old nag, he'd have been led out into a field and shot ages ago.
