I thought he was too, but he just got louder and louder, ranting more and more until we stopped watching; maybe he calmed it down again.

You can be loud and funny at the same time. Loud was part of his thing.

I heard from a few people the radio progs were tip top so I watched a couple eps of the TV series - sadly, thought it was bab-pant.

Is it totally different from the radio, or just not transfer well?

I haven't watched the tv programme but I've heard it's very different. The radio programme has me in fits.

I think from reading up it's sort of watered down the character and made bland for tv. His live stand up shows are hilarious as well.

It's what happens when comedy goes main-stream Walt - remember young Vic & Bob on Channel 4 in its early, anarchic days? The beeb got hold of 'em and watered them down to pale imitations of themselves.

True but some of the Smell Of R&M was very much in the class pile.

Shooting Stars was alright for the first couple of series too, but then turned all tired and ****tington

I'll have to check 'em out.

I think it was on pre-watershed, 8pm mainstream slot. Perhaps not ideal ground in the first place?

Curb's back on later in the year too, although last couple of series have been a bit ****, the first 5 or so are first class.

200 plus posts and no one has mentioned Russell Howard.

    Apart from me.

    Calling him a tool.

    Which he is.

Carry on ladies and gents, carry on.

I like a fair bit of his writing, but wasn't a fan of his stand up.

Having said that, he did a routine a few years ago when there was a popular trend for home phones that were designed in novel shapes such as Disney characters.

He went off on one of his rants, that included a line about it being impossible to have a serious phone conversation when you're talking to Snoopy's bollocks. :emoticon-0102-bigsm
