    Nah, did he balls.

Binned her off after a month or so if memory serves me right.

Only Elvis has had more top 40 hits in a calendar year than TWP.

Not a lot of people know that.

Yeah I did. They deliberately went for it with the limited edition releases so they flew in and out of the top 40 each month for a year.

I saw em live in Leeds on a Peel thing on the same bill as Orbital (I think). Bit weird.

Who do we think should take our crown?

A shortlist of five bidders all hoping to succeed Hull as the next UK City of Culture has been announced.

Coventry, Paisley, Stoke, Sunderland and Swansea are all in the running to take the title for the year 2021, with the winner to be announced at a ceremony in Hull later this year.

If Paisley win it I can see a pattern emerging.

I'd say Swansea. Spent the weekend there last August and thought the place was really interesting. It's Wales' Hull.

As a general rule, I don't like slagging other working people's homes, but some of these lot have ludicrously dished it out our way previously.

    So, I can speak candidly.

I want it to go to Swansea or Paisley because if it goes to some ****ehole like Stoke, Coventry or Sunlun - it's just going to make a mockery of the CoC and possibly devalue our current tenure.

It'll just become known as some sort tokenistic award for ****e places.

    It's not got a chance.

Leeds have thrown their hat in the ring as well.

Should I have posted this in the sayings you don't understand thread?

Martin Green has declined the offer to stay on after the City of Culture year, he will leave by Easter 2018, but the City of Culture company will continue with someone else at the helm.

Could he be hoping for a call from the next CoC, which I hope is Sunderland, as I would love my family and friends to experience what has happened at Hull. It would also make great tourism sense to make the Humber to Northumberland North East a quality region to visit and explore.

It's either be Paisley or Swansea. We've had an Irish and English winner...

If I was a betting man - and I am - I'd lump on either of these. It's wrong, but it's the way committees think when voting on anything UK.

Good luck to whoever gets it next. I'd give it to the worst place that asked for it, so the benefits would be greater.

It's certainly been fantastic for us.
