Congratulations to Hull born cricketer, Mark Robinson, who has guided the women's England cricket team to World Cup glory clinching success after a 9 run victory at Lords. Brilliant effort. Rumoured also to be a Hull City fan. Link on HDM for someone cleverer, more technical than me.

He is a big City fan. Ex Endike lad too. was a decent footballer as a kid too. But was always an outstanding cricketer.

Do you have any idea why at one end it is Endike Lane and at the other Endyke Lane?

Endyke (the dyke) is the older spelling.

Is it something to do with catchment areas, city boundaries and populations?

Endyke is the east riding spelling, but they had a vowel movement when Hull used it in a more modern style.

    Cricket or football?
It's a coincidence but my mate was at senior school with him and he was saying in pub last week he's got,a haul of medals for cricket and he was crap at it but he was in a team with Robbo and Nicky Brown so they did it all.

It was cricket. May have played footy against him too but not knowingly.

I remember him being very fast & them using a few in the slips which was strange for 4th years. He rattled us out & we had some decent larkers.

Stop being a daft sod. I was asking someone with connections to the area about something which has always puzzled me.

Or low levels of education leading to poor spelling. So the correct spelling would be at the East Yorkshire end?

I have asked this before but can't recall any answer. Used to know someone years ago who lived at the Endyke Lane end and they were not able to get a definitive answer.
