Congratulations to CFC, deserving league winners this year. While I think we had an even better team, at least through the first 11, you were able to grind out wins in a way we couldn't match. Conte, who I like, did a superlative job this year. I think he improved your style in a number of different ways.
Thanks for the plaudit although I think the difference between us was the world class players we were able to call on like Hazard, Costa, Willian, Kante & Pedro who can and have on their day produced the spectacular.
FFP clearly still has no teeth then with City spending 200 million this window on top of 150 million last summer and practically getting nowt back in sales. Over 130 million on full backs!! The world's gone mad.
clearly shows how good a coach pep must be if he has to replace almost their entire starting 11 over the course of 2 summer windows!
He did inherit a team with Jesus Navas and Clichy which makes you wonder what the hell they were spending the money on before. £50m for Stones
Making Kyle Walker the worlds most expensive defender has got to be up there as one of the biggest jokes this summer. Considering Bonucci went for about 30 million as well. No wonder Southampton now want about 70 million for Van Dyke!
If Bonucci was five years younger he'd probably have been £100m. There's a premium now whenever a big English club is after a player. Southampton should hold out. No Prem team needs to sell anyone with the new revenue streams. Why let Sigurdsson go for £40m when staying in the league is worth what it is, for example.
Absolutely. But no point having a multi million pound player who doesn't want to be there and wont perform though. So you have to judge each case. When Suarez wasn't allowed to leave Liverpool, he still had an amazing season. Many more on the other end of the scale though, like Payet.
yeah. If I were the player I would leave / strike than stay & sulk. In that sense always liked Suarez. always 100% to the cause.
This is why selling Walker was a mistake. As soon as the other realise the extra money to be made they'll all want out. Probably except Kane who doesn't look like he has the ambition to me. Quite happy to be the big fish in the small pond by the looks of things. Spurs are not realistically going to be able to compete with the likes of the Manchester clubs in the near future in wages or in trophies. Why would Ali, Rose, Eriksen etc stay??? They've done great and will hold on to most players this year but if Walker bags some trophies at City plus huge wages and Spurs flatter to deceive again, can they really hang on to them next year?
No, in a word. Kane will stay this season, but as soon as his head gets turned by offers of 250-300k per week wages, he will change his mind. Spurs cannot offer anywhere near that. Look at Lukaku.......Kane has outscored him three seasons in a row now, he is arguably not as good as Kane, yet is on three times the money Kane is.
