Two top entertainers have been lost.

RIP Robert Hardy and Hywel Bennett. 91 and 73 respectively!

Hwyel Bennett... Wasn't he Shelley in the TV series?

Sad about Robert Hardy and another small part of my childhood gone! I will always remember Sunday nights after a bath sitiing in pyjamas with my Tea and hot buttered crumpets being allowed to stay up to watch All Creatures...!

I heard on the Radio yesterday that dear old Nicholas Parsons is performing at the Edinburgh Fringe this weekend at the ripe old age of 91!

He's an amazing fellow... I'd go as far as describing him as Male of the Century.

Glenn was a country great - his recent material has been excellent and his style has influenced many of the modern country stars. Sad loss. RIP Glenn.

Heard a report on radio yesterday that he carried on performing despite his serious Alzheimer's.
If he stumbled or forgot the words, the audience would take over and finish the verse / chorus for him <applause>

It's true - he also released his "final" album called, appropriately enough, "Adios" a couple of months and and it is very good.

Very under estimated in my opinion.

I used to listen to a lot of Country music growing up as my parents were big fans. Jim Reeves, Glen Campbell, Johnny Cash, Marty Robins are sadly all now gone. I wonder how long it will be before the great Kenny Rodgers joins them!

Younger posters will have probably never heard of him, but Jerry Lewis has now passed on. He was so funny alongside Dean Martin back in the day and I grew up laughing out loud at him. His portrayal of the original Nutty Professor was brilliant , RIP Jerry :emoticon-0106-cryin

I loved his partnership with Dean Martin, unusually funny for an American!

    RIP Jerry <rose>

Devastated to learn just now the Walter Becker, bass player extraordinaire and founder member of Steely Dan has joined the ranks in the sky.
Awesome musician who could play a mean lead guitar, too.
A very sad day for the world of music. RIP :(

edit - the biggest irony of all is I had a Steely Dan track play on my mp3 player en route back from Nodge tonight ...and I had no idea at the time!
