I see UKIP has a candidate for leader who thinks the whole of Islam is "evil".

Since their current Deputy Leader proudly claimed on R4 this morning that UKIP had originated the entire Brexit process over a period of years, we're really seeing where its roots lie now.

Police are arresting a record number of Romanian migrants for a range of crimes including child sex attacks, begging, violent assaults and prostitution offences.
Figures from forces show more than 50 Romanians are being held for questioning every day.
In the past four years the number of crime suspects from the eastern European nation being arrested by police has soared by 16%.
Last year police in England and Wales arrested 19,841 Romanians.
For 32 of the 43 forces that could provide comparable figures from four years earlier, the number of arrests has risen from 16,292 to 18,939.
Earlier this year a Romanian crime gang was jailed for a total of 47 years for a string of raids from jewellery stores. which they attacked with sledgehammers.
The six-strong gang was said to be members of the notorious " Romanian Crime Academy", which recruits members and provides them with training such as how to avoid being followed and how to defeat forensic techniques.
The forces that arrested the most Romanians were the Met in London, where 7,355 were detained in 2016, followed by West Midlands (2,584), Thames Valley (1,403) and Bedfordshire (642).
In Greater Manchester, where a total of 533 Romanians were arrested. there was eight pulled in for rape offences, one for a slavery related charge and nine for human trafficking offences, South Wales, where a total of 222 Romanians were arrested, saw seven quizzed about rape and 72 arrested over shoplifting.

    This article continues.....Daily Express...14 Aug 2017.

My thoughts.....Freedom of movement and being unable to stop people with criminal records coming into this country....must be changed.

I guess that's a bit similar to the British mobsters resident on the Costa Del Sol isn't it?

Not to mention the drunken yobs terrorising Ibiza and similar resorts and stag parties laying waste to Budapest and Dubrovnik.

They are said once the pool gates open in the hotels they charge for the beds, then go back y the room until lunch time.. <grr>

You'll probably find there is a way to stop people with criminal records entering the country or deporting criminals but politicians simply can't be arsed, so they blame the EU.

The longest-serving chief executive in the NHS has been sacked for gross misconduct. Sir Leonard Fenwick joined what later became Newcastle-upon-Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 1977, and has been on extended leave since January. He was dismissed by a disciplinary panel after an investigation was carried out into claims of bullying and abusive behaviour.

Note particularly that he sacked two consultants caught having sex with junior members of staff on hospital premises. A forum of clinical directors, who lead the hospitals' specialists departments, had called for a "blame free" culture.

It never fails to astonish me how many senior figures in public organisations end up this way following allegations of bullying, sexual misconduct or financial irregularity. It seems to be especially common in the police and fire service, where holding a leadership role for more than 6 months is a feat in itself.

Either appointments to these top jobs are made in the first place by groups of morons who'd have promoted Adolf Hitler to Head of Diversity or there's a culture where middle management, upset at being told what to do occasionally, can undermine their boss in a climate of rampant political correctness. My money is on the latter.

Don't understand that comment Plym. What has the sex of the people involved got to do with shagging on the job whilst you should be getting on with work you are paid to do? If it was two women having sex or two men why would that be any different to one of each? The fact is that none of those scenarios is acceptable and the people involved should get a bollocking at best and a sacking at worst. There are rules and ALL staff whoever they are should have to abide by them. I agree with notdistant on this one, the PC brigade have a lot to answer for. I do not even understand a "no blame culture". If somebody has cocked up then somebody is to blame. To ignore it is to cover it up.

I think somebody worked out a foolproof way of causing mayhem and now it's the norm everywhere. I simply don't see how you can stop anyone from getting a vehicle, there are billions of them, and driving down a road somewhere. A ton of metal moving at a high speed is going to cause a real problem for anyone in the way. This is just going to continue and continue with nobody being safe anywhere on the planet. Thanks Mr Blair you are my real hero for helping to cause this.

I'm utterly amazed nothing had been done to block Las Ramblas completely or at least separate the central pedestrian area from the public road on either side. I appreciate it's the terrorists to blame but it's just incompetent to have let a van drive up the middle like that.

Wheelchair, moped, motor scooter, push bike, pram, or just plain walking. All of those scenarios could be done by somebody either sitting on or carrying a pile of explosives. If somebody is determined to do something like this then they can and there is almost nothing any Authorities can do about it. The Authorities know it and the would be terrorists know it. You have to have a way to supply all the shops and outlets along that walk and to start blocking things off is to stop any normality in living. Just what the bombers/drivers want to happen. Take your point notdistant but it's a hard decision to have to make and to do it everywhere this sort of thing is possible.

Jean- Claude Juncker yesterday laid out his vision for a federalist Europe in an unapologetic and defiant call for EU countries to surrender more national powers to Brussels after Brexit.
The plans, branded a blueprint for a "United States of Europe", push for "even closer union" on defence, asylum and foreign policy in a bigger, more powerful bloc under a new directly elected EU President, a Eurozone finance minister, and with every country adopting the euro.
This radical reform would see the new president accrue much greater power and independence. Currently, the commission president ostensibly takes instruction from the member states in the council.
Under Mr Juncker's plans EU leaders in the European Council would LOSE THEIR VETO over aspects of foreign and taxation policy with decisions taken instead by a qualified MAJORITY vote.
He hailed steps towards EU co-operation on defence and military research funding. "By 2025 we need a fully-fledged EUROPEAN DEFENCE UNION. We need it,and Nato wants it", he said.
Strongly hinting at a tougher enforcement regime of legal sanctions against countries that defy Brussels such as Hungary, he said: "The rule of law is not optional in the European Union , it is a must."
Mr Juncker dealt with Brexit in less than a hundred words, saying Britain and the EU would "regret" the decision but the EU must not be held back. He urged the EU to hold a summit in Romania shortly after Britain leaves to discuss the future.

My thoughts....Juncker's present term finishes in 2019, just in time to be elected it's first President ?
Brexiteers will feel relief that we will not be part of the U S of Europe and its growing Federal monolith.
Some remainers will not want to be part of Juncker's vision for a future Europe, turning itself into the U.S.E.....having majority decisions, doing away with the £ and using the euro and the forming of a EU military force.....what many have said will never happen IS COMING INTO BEING.
