It wasn't Meyler who was stupid, he simply played his normal game; it was Slutsky who made the inevitable possible.

He was already booked and throwing himself into tackles. As somebody who was recently quoted as saying he wanted to give the team a kick up the arse and show some leadership qualities, he dropped a bollock. He should be expected, once on a booking, to be more careful; he's a senior professional with a lot of appearances and should be more conservative when appropriate.

Have to agree with that, having now watch the full match on the TV channel, both tackles were border line bookings, but he should have know better that once on a yellow you have to be very careful.

However as I mentioned earlier, I was following the game on Twitter, and a couple of posters, OLM's lad being one, said early in the second half the Meyler was looking leggy, and should be taken off. When you are getting tired, it's easy to make challenges look worse, as you are not in control of your actions as you would be when fresh. Therefore I think Leo should take some of the blame, as Meyler being on a yellow, and him seeing he was tiring, with Stewart itching to get on, he should have replaced him.

Having played the red mist sometimes descends to a point were you don't realise what your doing is attracting the attention of the ref .. however a manager with a bit of nouse would have seen the danger .. Meyler was leggy and tiring causing him to be late on quite a few tackles .. Sluts had Stewart sat on the bench .. common sense would have been to make the change seeing what was unfolding .. sadly history tells us he did nothing resulting in another minor misdemeanor costing us a red card. Sluts really needs to sort his head out at times .. when down to 10 he drops Henriksen into a deep midfield position.. takes Dicko off giving us no outlet and then ten mins later has to rectify his mistake by bringing Dio on .. but hilariously leaves Henriksen in the deep lying position .. all very worrying that he can't see what the rest of us saw

He would be leggy as the two cms were swamped with Norwich playing round them.
Then to move Larsson to left mid was even stupiderer.
You just can't play a cf and two wingers and a number ten. It's crazy.

The half volley went all of 5 yards and another city player had to clear it <laugh>

Lots of slightly different opinion on here, John. I believe it's daft to expect to get from a player something he doesn't usually give you; especially a tired player chasing the game. Meyler does what he does, it was totally predictable and he should have been hooked. Put a player on more suited to that stage of the game, who wasn't the focus of the referee.

For all the other hindrances Slutsky has at our club, it is very telling that his reading of the game and how he adapts to that knows no language or cultural boundaries and he seems to be left wanting.
