If anyone is watching (it gets more irritating each year). The 6 bar challenge farce followed by the really annoyingly teasing notifications of the judges decisions at the houses (The problem I have, what worries me, I can only put through 3, etc etc), enough to put anyone off Still, I still hope to see at least one contestant showing promise Well, this year there is nothing to shout about but two stand out and they are the two shortest prices on offer Singer songwriter Grace Davies is in a league of her own and is 5/2 fav. She almost blew it at the house but that was because the stupid cow Sharon Osborne stopped her part way through her song and shattered her confidence. Provided she keeps it together she should walk this but my main worry is when she has to sing the songs on offer in the various categories. She is a singer songwriter and may not perform so well singing someone else's songs. The 16 year old, Holly Tandy ticks all the boxes and put in a very good performance at the house making it impossible not to put her through. At 4/1 she is a good back up for Grace. £20 Grace at 5/2 returns £70 if she wins £14 Holly at 4/1 returns £70 if she wins So it's roughly Evs one of those two winning, which is slightly better than backing Sharon Osborne to be winning manager at 10/11 Most of the others are so poor I don't recall their names or I would be suggesting laying bets left right and centre
I'll be following your posts here Ron, I have Holly and Mrs LG is on Grace, my concern too is Grace singing other songs.
Grace is too good to be in this. I've heard her sing 4 different songs she has written and, imo, they are up there with the best. Her future is already assured so it doesn't really matter what happens on X Factor. The voting is a farce and designed so as to not necessarily get rid of the worst performer. In the extreme, if one performer was everyone's second or third choice, they would be eliminated because they have the lowest number of votes. I think voters should have to put 3 in order of preference with first choice awarded 3 points, second choice 2 points and third choice 1 point. Or even, just predict the 3 finalists (each getting 1 point). That way there is more chance of the best ones staying in. For example the American should never have been eliminated. He was definitely better than some I saw. Probably not many people's first choice but surely not most people's last choice. Holly, although good, was a bit disappointing last night; maybe song choice didn't do her any favours. Hopefully a better song next week. Of course, another problem now with the voting is that now the winner each week gets a prize, some voters may not vote for them the following week just to give someone else a chance
Looks like a 2 horse race now. This Rak-Su group are very good. Another act that performs their own songs. They can both be sure of No 1 hits. Not really my cup of tea but they have something and could give Grace a run for her money. No-one else can.
I think we can safely lay just about every other contestant for as much as we can afford. Whether anyone will take the bets is another thing
From what I have heard, realistic odds would be Grace 4/9 Rak Su 7/2 Holly 6/1 Cut Kelvins 20/1 1000/1 bar Edit. just pushed Rak Su out to 7/2 and Cut Kelvins out to 20/1 One horse race Finalists will be Grace Rak Su Holly The rest range from sort of OK to rubbish, mainly rubbish or unsuitable for this comp. Couple of West End possibles
I agree Holly had a poor week. Grace is way ahead, her "never heard before" songs are better than everyone else's classic hits. Will be interesting though as things progress when she has to sing other's songs (as you mentioned earlier) - Rae Elle-Williams had a good week, may be another to watch?
Just watching recording of X Factor. Grace not at her best but not bad considering it was out of her comfort zone. Can't see her going out on that so looking forward to seeing her next week. At least it's made her price drift out to 5/2. Rak Su the new favourites at Evs. They are the only competition but wouldn't be rushing to back them at those odds
I see Kevin has come into 12/1 after that brilliant performance. However, I doubt he can repeat that every week. That song was right up his street. Revised odds (mine) Grace 5/4 Rak Su 5/4 Holly 20/1 Kevin 20/1 Cut Kelvins 33/1 1000/1 bar The West End Opera singer (can't remember his name - he's so memorable) might fluke it into the final but has no chance of winning so I'll include him with the 1000/1 no hopers One thing I can guarantee; there will no be surprise winner. It can only be Grace or Rak Su
OMG. Just watched again. The more I see of Rak Su the more I'm beginning to switch. They are so cool. I think they will be odds on soon (didn't think I'd be saying that). Kevin was just brilliant and maybe my 20/1 is generous but as I'm so convinced it can only be Grace or Rak Su, I'll stick with it.
Just watched Kevin; great performance but that will be his peak I think, would be astonished if he repeated that, the song was made for him.
That's what I thought......................................... until tonight. He was brilliant again, this time playing the piano. Seems a very talented bloke. He can't keep this up ....................... can he? He's been backed into 7/2 with WH Brilliant as he is, at those odds, he has to be a lay bet now, surely
